Fannin County Middle School FFA Chapter

FCMS FFA competed at State Horse Judging today in Conyers at the Georgia International Horse Park. In our first time ever having a team compete we placed 14th out of 45 teams. We are really proud of team members Brayden Payne, Justin Burrell, Grace Small, and AbbyGail Grindle.

Congratulations Hailey Stewart on placing 3rd in the Area Finals for the FFA Creed LDE.

Also, huge shoutout to FCHS Freshman, Melissa Acevedo, on placing 2nd and moving on to the state finals.

We are so proud of both of these young ladies. They competed with 49 students from Area 1!

Congratulations to Hailey Stewart on placing first in her Creed Speaking room. She is advancing on to the Creed Speaking Area Finals in two weeks. We are so proud of you, Hailey!!!

Animal Science is in full swing in FCMS classrooms. 7th graders are learning all about Georgia #1 commodity (poultry). We have learned about breeds, terminology, the embryo life cycle, parts of the egg and their functions, and we are even incubating chickens for our classroom.

6th and 8th grade have been learning about livestock identification methods and biosecurity(8th). We learned about cattle branding, designed our our brands, and burnt them into leather this week.

This week we are having a great time celebrating National FFA week and look forward to sharing many more fun pictures.

We’d like to celebrate sixth grader, Grayson Sowers, on a terrific first season with his Berkshire barrow, Chubbs. Grayson has worked hard all season to learn the ins and outs of pig showing and he has made so much progress. We’re proud of you Gray!

We are so proud of our sheep showmen. Great job by 6th grader, Brooklyn Plemons. And, at her first state show ever, 8th grader, Eva Raque, placed 10th in showmanship!!!
