A K-8 community grant school on the Navajo Nation reservation - Eastern Navajo Agency. We are a Community School with grades K-8. We belong to the Jr.
We are located 25 miles south of Bloomfield, NM close to the Mountain on the Navajo Indian Reservation. We serve 5 Chapters; Counselor, Nageezi, Huerfano, Nenahnezad, and Shiprock. Our school is undergoing an Academic upgrade with full implementation of the Common Core. Students are developing ownership of their education and we are seeing good academic gains. We have an expanding Parent Involveme
nt Program and I have an Open Door Policy to discuss parent and student concerns. We also have a variety of school sponsored evening activities that show an increase in attendance by parents. High Athletic League for Navajo Schools for the northern part of the state which give students an extracurricular outlet. Home games are well attended. We also have a highly functioning FACE program which features a Home Base Program in which educators visit homes in the Community to assist with Early Childhood and Prenatal education for the children up to three years. The Program also has a Center Base classroom at the school for children 3-5 years of age. The Adult Education Program has helped many adults get their GED High School equivalency. Our Residential Program is an excellent way for students to attend school when parents have transportation issues. Students from grades 1-12 stay at the dorm. Students in grades 9-12 attend Bloomfield High School. They have a variety of evening activities and tutoring to assist students in their educational endeavors and developing social skills.
