Have a great Wednesday! Thanks for reading
New & used books, local snacks, drinks, and crafts - and more - in downtown Blacksburg!

Loooooooots of new releases today, including a new novel from Jeanette Walls, the highly-anticipated "The Human Origins of Beatrice Porter and Other Essential Ghosts," a new Dog Man, and "The It Girl" in paperback, which comes with a free gift!

Fantastic news! We just received more enamel pins, some with images from our favorite books. We also have a new item, by popular demand - patches! Our favorite is the shark that says "I'm not mean, just hungry." Mood.

It a good day for a book and a cup of tea*. Luckily, we just got a bunch of gorgeous new mugs from local maker Odd Fox Pottery - check out those springy colors!
*they also hold wine.

*Eminem voice* Guess what's back? Back again? These beautiful one-handed book holders are back!

Okay. We get it. You're soooooooooo cool. You don't have to go around casually dropping your Edinburgh Festival badge in the store so we can find it and think about what we were doing in 2005 (hint: it wasn't going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival). You probably haven't even noticed it's missing because you're SO COOL, but if you want your badge back we have it for you at the counter, where we're just sitting here being uncool. 😎

Here's your Friday reminder to never give up!

This week's Community Poetry Project topic is "Grandparents"! 👩🦳👨🦳

It looks like there will be some ongoing construction in front of our shop, so this is just a reminder that you can use our back door, which is conveniently located right beside our parking spots out back! The front door IS open, but the construction is loud and we don’t want your puppies to get scared. 😀

Happy National Puppy Day - stop by with your pup and we'll give them a treat! (Actually, we always have treats. We just want to see some puppies.)
Panel to Panel: Exploring Difficult Themes in Graphic Novels
This panel looks AMAZING and we'll be there with the graphic novel adaptations of Octavia Butler's "Parable of the Sower" and "Kindred" for sale!

Check out these cool new stickers designed by Liz Pavlovic Design for the Appalachian Prison Book Project (APBP) . When you purchase a sticker, we donate the ENTIRE sale price to the Appalachian Prison Book Project. So $5 goes to the APBP *and* you get a sweet Mothman sticker - everybody wins!

We received a set of Jane Austen books for our used classics shelf, and it has all of us arguing over which Jane Austen book is our favorite. What do y'all think?

Need your coworkers to know that you might *seem* all-business but you've got a secret funky side? Want to stockpile small gifts in the back of your closet for the next time you receive an unexpected gift and have to reciprocate? Just want to let your freak pen fly? Here you go - preorder Christina Lauren's next book from us and you'll get this sweet, sweet firework pen. 🎇😉👍

**LOCAL AUTHOR NEWS** Congratulations to Kristina Gorcheva-Newberry , whose book "The Orchard" was named one of the Best Books of the Year by the NY Post; tune in to PBS tonight and Thursday to hear Fred Carlisle Author talk about "The Lake Effect", and come by this evening for a discussion with Cathryn Hankla ("Immortal Stuff") and Falco ("Transcendent Gardening")! We have ALL of these books in stock!

Snow day + new releases = let's all just stay home and read.

Yes, these are adult socks - because there’s no shame in repping your favorite classics. ❤️😀

Who else is going to Moss Arts Center, Virginia Tech on Thursday to hear Viet Thanh Nguyen Writer speak? (We are, and we're SO EXCITED.) We have his Pulitzer-Prize-winning book in stock!

Just a few random shots of our used shelves. If you haven’t been in lately then you’re missing out!

Noon to five!

Please join us on Tuesday for an event with Cathryn Hankla and Edward Falco !

One day while a dog was romping around the store and a parent was reading a book to a child and some students were laughing at something a customer walked in and said, "Oh. I see this isn't one of those *quiet* bookstores" and that was our favorite compliment we've ever received, but today someone told us "I'm so glad you have weird stuff" and we're all like ☺️. That said, we're completely sold out of "I'm in Love with Mothman." More copies are on the way, so let us know if you want us to save one for you!

Happy weekend! Let us help you provide a loving home for a new book.

It’s Field Trip Friday and we’re over at Eats Natural Foods to pick up some goodies for a Friday night feast* (seriously, you need to check out their cheese selection). They’re also full of all kinds of cool stuff – eco-friendly housewares, fair trade clothing and jewelry, brewing and fermenting supplies, and pretty much anything else you could possibly need. They’re one of our favorite one-stop shops in Blacksburg. ❤️🥖🌏 *by “Friday night feast” we actually mean waaaay too many snacks that we’re going to shove in our face while binge-reading. But at least they’re healthy snacks!

The newest title on our Appalachian Appreciation shelf, this newly-published volume collects twenty-one oral histories of southern Appalachian women from the Foxfire archives to illuminate a region and culture held together by women. We're pretty sure you need this book. ❤
