Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers

The mission of BUMP is to BUILD, MAINTAIN, PRESERVE, and RIDE mountain biking trails in Birmingham a

This year BUMP will be bringing back the Oak Ass 100 Endurance Race. The race will take place Nov 16th at Oak Mountain State Park. Maintaining the rich history of this event, the all new route will be a technically challenging 25 mile tour of Oak Mountain State Park. Competitors can sign up for up to four laps. As with all other BUMP events, this will be an all day party complete with music and food. Chef Benard Tamburello from Vecchia Pizzeria will ensure our competitors and volunteers are properly nourished to last the entire day. The FARM: Functional Athletic Rehabilitation & Movement will be on site helping with post-ride recovery. The first 100 racers to finish the 100 mile route will be awarded a commemorative patch for the achievement. Registration and route info can be found by visiting Big thanks to our sponsors and supporters that help us put these events together. Bump N Grind # # # is in the books and was a huge success. We are incredibly grateful to the people who burned vacation to help us set up on Thursday and Friday, as well as the people who sacrificed their weekend to help us throw BNG the 30th anniversary party it deserved. We hosted gravity, short track, and XC events on all-new courses, saw nearly 400 racers from 13 states rack up over 4,000 race miles with not a single lost racer, sold thousands of dollars of merchandise, had another fun Little Hammies kids race, raised a ton of money for BUMP, and had a big ol' party at the end.

BNG is a passion project for every single BUMP board member and we are humbled by the amount of support we received. We put on a professional quality event and it’s incredible that we can do that as a completely volunteer organization. That would be impossible without the many sacrifices of our volunteers and sponsors who donated time and money to help us continue this tradition. We will continually work to improve this event because it’s the only way we know how to thank you.

Travis Bray is the big winner of the Intense Raffle Bike. We're 2 for 2 in putting raffle bikes on awesome people. Travis is the trail director of Pensacola Off-Road Cyclists

The Skills Park is being fully funded through the Innovate Alabama program and is going to bid along with several other trail projects. Thanks to everyone who donated to put this proposal together.

Understandably, we have received numerous questions asking when results would be available. We will post those as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we new on Friday that Dawn would need to leave Oak Mountain as soon as the racing was finished to help with a family medical situation that will be taking priority for the next few days. Once she has time to catch her breath we'll get them to our web guy and he'll put them on the race page.

Today is the LAST DAY to register for BNG # # #!

The BUMP bike sweepstakes is back again. This year we are focusing on raising money to build more trails at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. Our Friends Intense Cycles USA, Inc., Cane Creek Cycling Components, and Industry Nine helped us put together an incredible build for our Sniper T. The full build can be found at the link below as well as the contest rules and how to get your chance at winning this bike. You have until June 15th to get your entries. The Winner will be announced June 21. If you want to see it in person it will be on display in the BUMP tent at XTERRA this weekend and also at Bump N' Grind Race next month.

The Dirty Thirty is upon us! This year is the 30th iteration of Bump n' Grind and we again need y'all's help to pull it off. Last year we had record volunteer participation (87 volunteers!), and we want to match that this year so we can make BNG # # # something special.

I can't stress how much our volunteers helped us out last year. We had some issues with our timing during the enduro and our volunteers were extremely patient and helpful. We also kept 100% of the XC riders on course and accounted for on Sunday, which is almost unheard of. This was possible thanks to you giving us your time for the weekend.

Right now we need help with everything from course setup (Thu and Fri, 6/6 all day and 6/7 in the morning), Friday festivities (6/7 afternoon and evening) and everything needed on the race days (6/8 and 6/9, Course Marshals, Merchandise, Parking, etc.). Below is a link for a Google sheet where you can sign up.

Email me at [email protected] with any questions.

We're going to feed our volunteers lunch, and we will have a special volunteer t-shirt again. Last year we bought 50 shirts, which in previous years would have been plenty, but our volunteer numbers blew away previous years and left us short. Please sign up early so we know how many to buy this year.
