Truck Drivers Saluted in Weeklong Celebration | Transport Topics The 35th Annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week runs Sept. 10-16, providing an opportunity to give special recognition to the country's 3.5 million-plus truck drivers.

Good Morning All!

We are excited to be celebrating Driver Appreciation Week this week. We are appreciative of you every week of the year, but this week will be special.

Important Notes:

1. We will draw for gift cards every day, so be on the lookout for the winners to be announced daily.

2. Friday Sept 15th, we will have a cookout here in the shop area. We hope many of you can make it by to enjoy this time.

3. We have a nice gift for each of you, a nice cup/mug to keep your coffee hot or your drink cold.

4. Several vendors have donated some giveaways if you're in Birmingham this week. Feel free to grab a hat, etc.

We truly appreciate each of you for the job you do and hope you have a safe and productive week.

FMCSA Launches “Your Roads, Their Freedom” Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign

Deep South Freight (DSF) & Commercial Hauling Company (CHC) is proud to work alongside the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and fellow transportation and travel industry leaders to combat human trafficking.

As DSF & CHC know all too well, America’s transportation systems are often exploited by human traffickers. To combat this heinous crime, FMCSA launched the “Your Roads, Their Freedom” human trafficking awareness campaign. The campaign is designed to empower the nation’s 8.7 million commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to confidently identify and report suspected cases of human trafficking — ultimately saving lives and making America’s roadways safer for all.

As an agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) whose mission is to ensure road safety, FMCSA is uniquely positioned to educate CMV drivers on how to protect their roadways against a crime that poses a threat to transportation safety in every state across the U.S. In addition to complementing the work our organization is doing to stop human trafficking, the “Your Roads, Their Freedom” campaign works in tandem with the Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking initiative and other federal efforts against human trafficking, such as FMCSA’s grant programs, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign, to build on the important work that is already being done in this space.

Mind your brakes! starts today. This year the focus is on tires, wheels and lug nuts.

Today (Tuesday, May 17) is the first day of International Roadcheck, CVSA's three-day commercial motor vehicle and driver inspection and compliance enforcement initiative. Certified inspectors in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will conduct inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers over a 72-hour period. Drivers or vehicles with out-of-service violations will be prohibited from continuing their trip until the violations are resolved. https://www.cvsa.org/news/2022-roadcheck-start/
