Why is labor induced?⬇️

Labor is induced to stimulate contractions of the uterus in an effort to have a vaginal birth. Labor induction may be recommended if the health of the mother or fetus is at risk. Some of the reasons for inducing labor include the following:

➡️Your pregnancy has lasted more than 41 to 42 weeks.

➡️You have health problems, such as problems with your heart,
lungs, or kidneys.

➡️There are problems with the placenta.

➡️There are problems with the fetus, such as poor growth.

➡️There is a decrease in amniotic fluid.

➡️You have an infection of the uterus.

➡️You have gestational diabetes or had diabetes mellitus before pregnancy.

➡️You have chronic hypertension, preeclampsia, or eclampsia.

➡️You have prelabour rupture of membranes (PROM).

What is chronic pelvic pain?🤔

Chronic pelvic pain is pain in the pelvic area that lasts for 6 months or longer. Chronic pain can come and go, or it can be constant. Sometimes chronic pelvic pain follows a regular cycle.

What is disordered eating?⬇️

Disordered eating is an unhealthy way of eating that can happen when people try to lose weight. Examples of disordered eating include the following:

➡️Fasting

➡️Skipping meals

➡️Extreme dieting

➡️Making yourself vomit

➡️Using diuretics, laxatives, or stimulants

Disordered eating is not the same thing as an eating disorder, such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, but it can be serious. Disordered eating also puts you at risk of a true eating disorder.

➡️What is Listeria?

Listeria is a kind of bacteria that is found in soil, water, and some animals, including cattle and poultry. When eaten, Listeria causes a foodborne illness called listeriosis. Listeriosis is one of the most serious types of food poisoning.❌

➡️How can listeriosis affect pregnant women?

Pregnant women are 10 times more likely to get listeriosis than the general population. Vomiting and diarrhea can cause the body to lose too much water. This is called dehydration. Listeriosis also can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or preterm labor.

If you think you have eaten food contaminated with Listeria or if you have any of the symptoms of listeriosis, contact your ob-gyn right away. Remember that it can take 2 months for symptoms to appear.📱

Birth control pills, the birth control patch, and the vaginal birth control ring are combined hormonal birth control methods. They contain two hormones: estrogen and progestin.💜

How should I wear a seat belt while I am pregnant?
When wearing a seat belt, follow these rules:

➡️Buckle the lap belt below your belly so that it fits snugly across your hips and pelvic bone.

➡️Place the shoulder belt across your chest (between your breasts) and over the mid-portion of your collar bone (away from your neck).

➡️Never place the shoulder belt under your arm or behind your back.

➡️Pull any slack (looseness) out of the belt.

🚨If you are in an accident, seek medical attention right away, even if you are not injured.🚨

In the last weeks of pregnancy, a fetus usually moves so his or her head is positioned to come out first during birth. This is called a vertex presentation. A breech presentation occurs when the fetus’s buttocks, feet, or both are in place to come out first during birth. This happens in 3–4% of full-term births.💜
