Come visit, bring me something good. Gallery-sitting is a lonely job but somebody's gotta do it. I'll be doing it next two months...quick, before Doctor Fauci shuts us down again...

Wednesday, February 26, 7 p.m. Come dance and drum with this great group of artists at East Village Arts!
From the Polymorph Bodyshop closing night....

At East Village Arts of Birmingham we have a mission to create a vital and safe cultural cross-roads for community artists and friends to gather and create.

If you have the talent, we have the space! (Address: 7611 1st Ave N. Birmingham, AL 35206)

Our vision is to support emerging & established artists, poets, and a collective of independent musicians in a diversity of genres, with a venue that is accessible, efficient and affordable. Uniquely conceived in the form of a "village" or town, we have an open gallery for artist exhibitions, a performance space with a stage & church pew seating, a nice wood floor for dance and classwork, and a number of village mini studios which may be occupied by local artists to show or execute their work. Outside we have an open patio & garden space with seating, a fire-pit, community sound sculpture and plenty of parking on the street, and behind the patio (alley access). We are a membership based co-operative of artists, musicians and patrons, who believe that diversity and collective creativity is the strength of a healthy community. We host a variety of events and activities from artist showcases, exhibitions and workshops, concerts, rehearsals and free music lessons, poets & the spoken word, as well as making affordable or free space available for community activities. We seek to work with the local organizations to strengthen ties between artists, the diverse music scenes of our city and the wider community. We envision our presence as a collective, anchoring an "East Village" in Birmingham, Alabama, spearheading a safe setting for cooperative neighborhood rehabilitation and improvement. We are a cooperatively run, secular organization committed to providing a respectful and inclusive environment for our members and the greater community. Join us in supporting our vision as a hub for artistic creativity, inclusive diversity and community enlightenment in Birmingham, Alabama!
