Meet Roman! He loves the water. They enjoy traveling to the Great Wold Lodge. Roman also loves road signs, school, Pokemon and soccer. He is a social butterfly and a great big brother! Nicole shares that she was discouraged to get him diagnosed early, but she was persistent. She followed her gut and advocated for her son.

Alabama's Autism Spectrum Disorder Cards will help de-escalate stressful situations with law enforcement
The local news is highlighting this great program started in 2015! Check out the article attached!
The Autism ID Card is available to any on the autism spectrum in the state of Alabama. Go to our website > autism-Alabama.org> Navigating Autism> Autism ID Card to download the application. You will need to have a health care provider sign off confirming an ASD diagnosis and then take it to any Health Department in Alabama. They will collect a $10 fee.

Happy Faces Friday! Meet Kelvin. He is 30 years old and is a classically trained pianist. Kelvin loves Stevie Wonder and knows the entire catalog of the Charlie Brown Christmas. He has played at the State Capital and works at Books-A-Million. Wilhelmina, his mother, advises to keep up your research and stay on top of technology and education. She also says she wished they had know more about the laws and benefits related to autism.

We met with (from left to right) the Athens Police Chief, Floyd Johnson , the Athens Police Captain, Anthony Pressnell and the Limestone County Sheriff, Joshua McLaughlin. Todd Tomerlin, of Autism Infinity, works in the Athens/Limestone County area promoting autism awareness and safety as well.
