Good morning everyone. We have an update on Marco today. We introduced Marco during our Spring Auction. Marco is a retired breeder dog and came to us with numerous physical problems.
1. A**l Sac Mass
2. Perineal Hernia
3. Hypermature Cataract
Marco had surgery for all of these issues last Tuesday (4/12). The cataract surgery was successful. The surgery for the mass and hernia were major surgeries. I have included aa photo of his incision area. This will be a major recovery so we are once again reaching out to our supporters asking for your prayers and good thoughts for Marco. Also, we had wonderful news yesterday...the mass was BENIGN!!! We think that is a good sign. If you would like to make a donation towards Marco's treatment/care you can use our PayPal email address

We get to tell you the happiest of news today. Ember completed her journey through BBTR and went to her new home yesterday.
She is quite the little fighter and we can't wait to hear how she is settling in. We hope everyone has a great Saturday!!!
A sneak peek at our girl Ember. She will be going to Mom at the end of the week 😁
We hope everyone is having a great weekend. Our little EMBER sure is!!! We just wanted to share a video and show you what she has been up to. She is doing great and will be ready to go to Mom next week 😍
Just a quick update this morning on Ember. She is doing great!!! She has a little swelling/inflammation where her sutures were removed, but that is improving. She has a great appetite, her stools are starting to form normally and she is getting her puppy vaccinations today. She will be going home with Mom next week 💕 Here are a few photos to show you how she is doing 😊

A video was all we could manage of Ember yesterday because every still photo was a blur. She is definitely on the mend and in full puppy form. We did manage to grab these three. If all continues to go well, she will go home to her Mom, Lisa Beecher, on April 8th!!! Thanks for all of your support through her illness and recovery 💜
It is Sunday, and we are in Day #6 of Ember's fight with parvovirus. Thankfully, we have wonderful news. She had a great day yesterday. She had four small meals and finished her IV fluid bag. Her IV catheter has now been removed, but she continues to get sub-q fluids a couple of times a day. She is eating a special high calorie diet that is designed for "crisis" cases. There has been NO additional vomiting or bloody stools.
Ember has been moved from the clinic to her foster home for continued recovery. We got a few shots of her getting a much needed bath today!! I bet she will feel better after that.
Thank you so much for all of your kind words and support of Gouda/Ember. I am sure Lisa Beecher will keep us up to date on photos once she is at her new home 🙂
We did an update on Gouda/Ember this morning. Since that post, we have had another update (Saturday 3/26). The video of her is a couple of hours after receiving her IV meds. Her crate was a little dirty, but not nearly as bad as the last two mornings. EMBER IS HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION 🙂
Good Saturday morning everyone. We missed your update on Gouda/Ember yesterday. Sometimes things get really busy in a vet clinic (when it is the beginning of Spring Break here) 😁 As it turns out there has been no significant change one way or the other in the last 48 hours. She still has diarrhea and is eating a few bites here and there when she gets hungry. Still fever free. Overall, she is a little more perky and alert. Keep those thoughts and prayers coming!!!
Happy Thursday everyone!!! We have some positive news to share about Gouda/Ember today with a day 3 update. Overall we have good news. She is having some diarrhea and did not have an appetite this morning, but she has been given medication for her nausea so she will have her appetite back later today. There has been no more vomiting since the first morning and she no longer has any blood in her stool. She is also fever free!!!! SO, we have much to celebrate!!!! Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. It would appear little Ember is indeed a fighter 💜
We wanted to provide everyone with an update on Gouda/Ember. Her temperature is normal and she ate a full meal. She has had no additional vomiting, and her stools are forming after the prolapse surgery. She is still on IV Fluids, but so far so good. A good first 24 hours!!! Thanks to all of you for your support of BBTR!!! If you would like to make a donation you can do so through PayPal using our email address:

We hope everyone is having a good day. We need to give you an update on sweet Gouda. She has been diagnosed with Parvo Virus after getting sick last night. She was scheduled to have her first shots and get the sutures removed from her surgery last week, but we will have to wait on those. There is no treatment for for this disease other than supportive care. We are really hoping she is a fighter!!!!! Please send Gouda all of your positive thoughts and prayers 💜
We hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I know all of you have enjoyed seeing our new rescue pup Gouda. We mentioned yesterday that she had been adopted by someone who had taken care of a dog with similar health issues.
Lisa adopted another dog, Cyrus, from BBTR. He also came into the rescue pr*****ed and pr*****ed a second time while under our care. This can be a difficult condition to manage and he did have two more small prolapses after going to his new home. Cyrus was a great dog and adored his Mom.
There are a few photos of Cyrus below that his Mom shared with us. If you want to make a donation to BBTR for the care of Gouda you can use PayPal and send it to our email address..

We are happy to update you on Gouda's progress. She is doing great after the surgery!!! She is being fostered and monitored closely for any post surgical complications. We are also pleased to announce that Gouda has found a new home. Her new Mom is familiar with dogs who have had this type of surgery. So, she will be in good hands.
Thank you all for your kind words of support. Gouda was a time sensitive case. The sooner she received surgery, the more likely it would be successful. Many of you have made donations through our PayPal account and we want to thank all of you for that. If anyone would like to donate, our PayPal email is

We are happy to provide an update on our little darling Gouda. She is 3-4 months old and was surrendered to us by her owner because she had a pr*****ed re**um. Because time is of the essence with this type of problem, she had her surgery yesterday at Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham. The Doctor was able to correct the problem (5-6 inches of her colon was protruding) and Gouda is on her way to recovery. She will keep her stiches in for a week and will be monitored closely.
Surgery like this is always expensive. If you would like to make a donation to help us with Gouda's medical expenses you can do so through PayPal using our email address:

With Gouda feeling a little better, we were able to get a few photos of her and also a video. Enjoy!! She is such a sweet baby 😍

We have two more dogs to introduce to you that are available for adoption through BBTR. We were contacted by a shelter to take on Piggy. When we went to get her, she had a buddy, so we just brought him along as well. Both are available for foster, foster to adopt, or adoption. They can go together as a pair, or individually. You can find an application on our website www.bbtr.org
PIGGY is a mixed breed who is about a year old and weighs 25 pounds. She loves other dogs, and is wild about play time and sun bathing. She has been fully vetted, spayed and is up to date on all preventative medications. Piggy is also working with Mr. Anthony (Canine Enrichment) and is learning commands. She is crate trained and learning house training.
SAUSAGE is a 36 pound mix and he is about a year old. Sausage has an easy going nature much like his best friend Piggy. He is great with other dogs and enjoys walks and car rides. He was also vetted, neutered and is up to date on all preventative medications. Sausage is also working with Mr. Anthony (Canine Enrichment) and learning commands. He is also crate trained and working on house training.

This morning we want to introduce you to Wilma. She weighs 30 pounds and is about 2 years old. She is a bit of a bossy pants, so she may need to be the only dog. She has finished her heartworm treatment, been spayed, microchipped, and is current on all medications. Wilma is crate trained. She loves lounging in the sunshine, riding in the car, and going for a stroll. She could be your perfect companion. We are looking for a Foster home for Wilma, but she is also available for adoption. Remember to check your bids, or check out our auction if you haven't yet. Only one day left!!!

We are pleased to announce that Jax is adopted!!!!!! Help us celebrate!!!
Good afternoon. We would like to introduce you to another one of the dogs we have available for adoption. This is Willow. She is an English Bulldog (mostly) and she is about 2 to 3 years old and is 50 pounds. She is a little timid with other dogs (needs to be fed separately).
Wilma is learning about toys and how to play. She is OK with kids and is house and crate trained. Her eyes are light brown but have splotches of pale blue. They make her special. If you are looking for a solid, sweet, low key pet, that's me. You can find an adoption application on our website www.bhambtr.org
Once again, thank you for your support of our auction so far. It will end tomorrow at 7PM. Auction Link
