I have been working with a client for the past few months who is downsizing and I'm so proud of her! Last week we tackled her photographs, of which she has hundreds - like these. Fortunately, she knows the stories behind all of them (and she has some great stories!) and was able to edit the pictures appropriately, then we stored them neatly. However, had she not taken the iniative to do this hard but worthy work, then these pictures, etc. would have been too overwhelming for those who come behind her and the abundent amount of keepsakes would have been skimmed over or even tossed out. You see: if you keep everything, then nothing is special. If you don't care for your stuff, then others will follow your lead. Now my client is surrounded by her most treasured (and organized!) memories - and her friends & family will know what is important to her and worthy of preservation because she has put things away with purpose 💪

This article is everything! I believe: your stuff = your responsibility. Nobody knows or loves your stuff more than you do, so if you don't have structure or purpose for your things, then those who come behind you - your family & friends who have their own lives, jobs, and responsibilities - may just light a match...
