[09/20/18] We have a new neighbor coming next month and we have to relocate about 50 bikes we have in storage. We would much rather sell them than move them. [05/23/18] There have been some strange goings on with parked trains blocking access to us on 1st Ave S. If they are still there when you come take 32nd Street to 2nd Ave. And then 2nd Ave to 34th Street. Then 34th Street will get you back to our access road on 1st Ave South. It's only a two block jog out of your way.
[05/11/18] We will be closed this Sunday for Mother's Day. But remember that we now open on Monday morning from 9AM until 12PM. See you then.
Last week someone left this very nice ladies bike outside the recyclery. We were just wondering who did that? And if it was a donation?
[03/29/18] OK so it's a good news/bad news sort of thing. Bad news is we won't be open Easter Sunday. Good news is we are going to try adding Monday mornings from 9-1 to our schedule. So catch us then if you need a bike. Happy Easter!
Our new friend Oliver works at a scrap yard. So now we are able to save bikes that were truly in the last minutes of their life. This Trek 7100 is a great bike for any beginner. And it's only a hundred and twenty five bucks.
Our friends at Cahaba Cycles donated this mint condition Trek Multitrak 750 gravel grinder bike. It would be perfect for someone around 6' to 6'-3'. And it's a steal at $250. Thanks Cahaba Cycles.
Help us keep our best volunteer close by. Glenn Reado is looking for a new living situation that is affordable. He was living for the past 15 years in a Section 8 apartment building. But unfortunately the roof now leaks and all of the residents are being forced to move out on short notice. If you know of anything close by the shop that is affordable please let us know.
[12/30/17] Friends, we will not be open on Sunday New Years Eve. Thank you for all your support in 2017. See you next year.

One of our bikes is gonna be in a movie y'all. Inherit the Viper is currently filming at locations in and around Birmingham. And the script called for a frustrated character to peel away on his BMX bike. The production assistant said our bike was even better than any new bike because it already looks "well loved".

Happy Halloween from your friends at TfK ReCyclery!
So proud of our most recent Earn a Bikers, Brandon and Carter ! They learned bike safety, the rules and laws of road cycling, and some basic bike maintenance. Then they helped Mr. Mark refurbish a donated bike for our sales inventory. Two fun guys. And two more cyclists in our community. Congratulations.
Teaming up with our neighbors at Christian Service Mission to get a load of bikes off to Puerto Rico to help storm victims.
Feel like you're not getting enough attention? We have bikes that can help you with that. Come see us Wednesday afternoons and Sunday afternoons.
Our friends Jodie Bradley and Matt Burke brought out a great group of kids who were studying simple machines and engineering. We talked about all the different simple machines that go into making a bicycle function. And had a great time riding the tandem. Also, thanks to the kids Harrison, Maddie, Chloe, and Riley for the great BMX bike they custom built and donated to the Recyclery.
Our two new volunteers Tim Turner and Glenn Reado have been kicking it hard every single day the shop is open. We are so glad to have them with us.
We have bikes that fly like a War Eagle And roll like the Tide.

Trips for Kids Birmingham Earn a Bike!!
The past several weeks have been super exciting for 4 awesome students who have participated in our Trips For Kids Earn a Bike Program. Kids are all 5th graders at Avondale Elementary. They have attended TFK bike maintenance and safety class for 4 weeks & volunteered for 3 hours at Christian Service Mission.
Kids picked their bikes this week and got to ride them. The excitement of seeing kids on their new bikes and joy on parents face was a perfect moment!
After the ride, kids worked to take their bikes apart. Next week, they will put them back together and take them home with a helmet donated from Children's Hospital and a bike lock provided by Trips for Kids Birmingham.
HUGE Thanks to the awesome volunteers that helped make this happen!
