Reach out today for couples counseling!

"John Gottman from the Gottman Institute has done extensive research regarding relationships and what makes them happy.

One of the more interesting findings is about the magic ratio. After examining couples and how they dealt with conflict, it seemed that happy couples for who love lasts show five positive interactions for each negative one.

[...]So, let’s say there is a conflict between a couple where one criticizes the other. Then, to resolve this conflict they can try positive interactions, which for example are showing empathy, apologizing, being affectionate, showing appreciation or interest."

As a trauma informed therapist, I am a huge advocate for security and protection. Check out this awesome product I thought I’d share. It was created by two sisters/moms of teenagers. It’s called She’s Birdie Personal Safety Alarm.

It’s the perfect gift for high school students, seniors heading off to college, moms, grandmas, you name it! I carry one on my keychain and with me when I go running.

This hand held tool has a LOUD siren + flashing light to deter an attack. She’s Birdie alarm comes in really cute colors and attaches to a solid brass keychain that is included in purchase. Turns on and off for multi-use and it comes with batteries that can be replaced.

And while I love my independence, this makes me feel safer when I am around town, traveling, on a hike, or out at night.

Today is #WorldSu***dePreventionDay! 💙🌟🌎

It’s only by learning more about what leads someone to su***de, the ways we can help to prevent it, and what resources are available – and not being afraid to ask when we’re worried about someone, or for help when we need it ourselves – that we can empower our communities to address this leading cause of death.

We all have mental health. It’s time we take the next step, ask more deeply about what someone is experiencing, and if we need it, find help together. Together, we can help #StopSu***de.

What Simone Biles Is Teaching the World About Mental Health

~ Brave women like Simone, Naomi Osaka, Sha’Carri Richardson, and many others are beginning to use their platforms to speak up about issues of depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. They are reminding us regularly it’s okay to not be okay. Slowly, the tide is changing how we talk about mental health in America ~

What Simone Biles Is Teaching the World About Mental Health Simone Biles came into the Olympic games as an advocate for mental health. She is, without a doubt, leaving the games as an even stronger advocate.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the bright moments that have been delivered in Simon Biles withdrawal from the gymnastics team competition in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics:

✨ Athletes are NOT superhuman; they are humans too who struggle with high levels of pressure, expectations, and perfectionism

✨ It’s OKAY to prioritize your mental health over others' physical expectations of you

✨ True leadership is about taking a proactive approach to mental health

✨ It shows a lot of strength to sit out on big competitions to focus on yourself

✨ Trophies are nice to look at, however the real shine lies within oneself #betheshine

Let’s close out June and talk about what pride month is all about 🏳️‍🌈

📌 Pride is the promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of le***an, gay, bisexual, and transgender people as a social group.

📌 Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBTQIA rights movements.

📌 Here at BTS we focus on affirming a patient's gender identity and do not try to repair it. Our goal is to help patients let their true self shine through ✨
