When will you post the ByLaws and procedural information about this group as required by law? I would like to read them and have asked numerous times for them to be posted or provided upon my request. Whats the hold up?
Hello neighbors! We received this lovely note in our mailbox. Since you felt the need to remain anonymous, I will address you here.
I am so sorry you had a flat tire because of the rocks in the road. I am so glad that you called the city of Birmingham about the rocks. We initially called them about the road eroding in front of our house as a couple of cars got stuck in the ditch and the road is narrowing. After several calls to the city, this was THEIR fix for the problem. As the roadworks crew poured rock into the ditch, we informed them that the runout would occur. We have called several times to get Birmingham City to complete the job. Ourselves and other neighbors have shoveled the rocks away as well. I hope you contacted the city about your flat tire because they are responsible.
I don’t know if you have noticed, (but surely you have since you are a “neighbor”), but we have spent many hours and $$$ working and improving our yard and house. If there is an issue with my house, please come to us, as we can work to resolve the issue. Leaving passive aggressive, snarky messages in our mailbox will not improve the situation. Reporting us for an issue that is not our fault but the city’s, does not improve the situation. If I knew who you were or you had come to us, maybe we could have worked together to get the city to complete the job and clean up the roadway. Leaving notes like this does not make the neighborhood a great place to be.
Thank you,
The Thorps

Do this was left in my mailbox( illegal by the way) . Anyone know who might be representing this” Roebuck springs beautification”? There is a house 2 doors down from me literally falling in and some ass is worried about a rug?

Want to get involved in the community? Ask me how?

Photos from Roebuck Springs - a Historic Community's post 04/05/2022

So it dawned on me… if I want a beautiful neighborhood. Much like self growth, the beautiful comes with you and your front yard line and then to your right or left. And if everyone would agree to help the person to their right or left then everyone is taking care of each other.

Let me say it this way. I noticed my neighbor driveway entrance could use some help. And offered. She was grateful for the help! As it’s not like she didn’t want it to look nicer. But, but she didn’t have the physical ability to, nor the financial means for the extra.

Let’s just say we had a lot of laughs 😂 A couple of colorful words! - But a wonderful memory and a more beautified entrance.

WOOO-HOOO!! Guess who is officially registered as a Nonprofit with 501c3 tax-exempt status according to the Internal Revenue Services!!? Yours truly, Roebuck Springs! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? This means that the government and state now recognize this organization as a non for profit in relation to our community. This allows us to accepted donations from other organizations and individuals as tax-free deductions/write-offs. This also allows us to apply for government and state nonprofit grant money. Money that can be used to restore, beautify, and grow our community!

Howdy Neighabor!
I wanted to share with you a little device I just purchased through Amazon, and if you have a Garage it might solve the issues of packages gone missing!

It's $29 and called - Smart Garage Control. Super easy to setup. It's basically a controller and door sensor that you pare through the MyQ App, your internet with your existing garage door. And because this is an Amazon product, after setting up you will be asked if you want to allow your Amazon packages to be delivered just inside your garage door. Then going forward, Amazon's instructions will be to set the packages inside your garage as they will be able to access and open the garage door via the eKEY. ✊🏼🙌🏼 brilliant!! Wish I would have come up with it!! Hope this helps if you are one of those unfortunate ones that somehow those packages seem to keep walking away!

There have been much discussion around this group and "memberships." Please know, a membership, and or, "donation" is not required to be apart of this group. Honestly, this is nothing more than a group of neighbors coming together with ideas to help grow and strengthen our community for the greater good of everybody!! Clearly, we do need money in order to make some changes; however, MONEY is NOT the only way that you may contribute. We have moved our meetings from monthly to a QUARTLEY meeting - because honestly we all have lives and this isn't anyone's main concern. However, this will allow us to focus more on the things that matter most while still including room for our community! Please join us if you are available for our 2nd Qtr Meeting in May where our main discussion will be on promoting the neighborhood and how we might start with new street sign posts.

Our Story

Our Historic Community consists of various sections, constructed throughout the years, and includes the nationally recognized Roebuck Springs Historic District. Our community is located just south of Interstate 59 in the Roebuck area of Birmingham, AL.

The 135-acre Roebuck Springs Historic District was named to the National Register of Historic Places in March 1999. Developed in the early 1900s by entrepreneur Robert Jemison, Jr. along with the East Lake Land Company and the Roebuck Auto and Golf Club, Roebuck Springs was the first large residential suburb in Birmingham whose planning and development was tied to the automobile, as well as the first community associated with a country club/golf course development.

The Historic District’s 1910 land plan, developed by Architect S. Scott Joy and his brothers Tedd and Tom, was the earliest in Birmingham to have a road system and subdivision scheme specifically designed and engineered to complement the steep, rolling topography. The Historic District’s roads are reminiscent of the narrow country lanes of rural England – there are no curbs or gutters, no sidewalks, and originally no streetlights, though a few streetlights have been added over time. There is an abundance of native vegetation, heavy tree canopies, terraced hillsides with stone walls, and homes built in such architectural styles as Craftsman Bungalow, English Country, Tudor Revival, and Colonial Revival.

Additional sections of the neighborhood were platted in 1926 by the Roebuck Springs Land Company. Many of these homes were designed in the then-popular Colonial Revival style. Some newly-opened streets, such as Ridge Top Circle and Rutherford Circle remained unimproved during the Great Depression and World War II years. The Post-war years saw rapid development surrounding Roebuck Springs, with the sprawling Roebuck Plaza Shopping Center (1957) and the development of Roebuck Parkway.
