Before the big night a few days ago, we drove up to Yellowstone from Jackson to photograph Great Fountain Geyser with the Aurora. The road to this geyser has been closed for a couple of years so we were surprised to see it open on our Anniversary trip. I was able to get a few shots in before the eruption and it was really orange and yellow. Different colors for sure! More to come.....

My friend and I trekked up to Logan Pass for the big night with a predicted KP7. We waited and waited with very little color and no service to check the apps. Then finally around 5am we got some color. Whooo Hooo! It was a long night but worth it. As the moon set at Wild Goose Island overlook, we made it to the top of Logan Pass to get a short show of beautiful colors. Which is your favorite? I really need your help here. Please like or love. Lastly, but not least. Of course we had to head over to Old Faithful.
I took a few shots of the Inn and headed down to castle geyser. On my way, I hear the gushing of Old Faithful erupting. There are no predicted eruption times during the night so this last shot was pure luck. This whole trip was luck! Beyond Grateful for this entire experience!

Fountain Paint Pots Geyser Basin. Again, we are seeing the colors changing within the hour that we were here. I actually had to de-saturate a couple of these. The colors were strong toward the end of the night as well.

Midway Geyser Basin, home of Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. This is the largest Hot Spring in the US and the third largest in the world. It is know for it's rainbow of colors from bacteria that live in the hot water. Tonight, I focused on the colors in the sky.
