Hey Los Angeles, I am casting an amazing project looking for people who have had a DUI and are willing to share their story. This is filming 1/22 and pays SAG ($671/filming day plus additional buyout) for internet film. Let me know if you know anyone who might be interested. This is a very beautiful project speaking out against drunk driving. If you or anyone you know is interested please email Amanda with contact info and a recent photo to [email protected]
Shopify Payments shut down my online payments gateway for a business based in Colorado that sells “drug paraphernalia” (including rolling tools, trays, papers). Apparently it was due to their agreement with the bank that holds their merchant account. Do you think they did that for legal risk or for image, moral, or other reasons?
The study’s findings are not unique. In a 2001 study published in The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse, researchers at the New York State Psychiatric Institute assessed treatment retention rates among 47 op**te-dependent subjects participating in a six-month outpatient program. Authors reported that participants who consumed ma*****na intermittently were significantly less likely to reinitiate their op**te use during the program as compared to those who either used it habitually or abstained from using it altogether. Those who used cannabis during the program were also more likely to adhere to naltrexone treatment. The authors concluded that occasional ma*****na use is associated with better overall outcomes, which “may support a harm reduction approach to naltrexone maintenance.”

Right now dozens of families are living in cheap hotel rooms and run-down apartments because they took a chance—they left their home state and came to Colorado in hopes of finding health for their child. Leaving their personal belongings next to trash dumpsters and starting over with very little resources or support to start over with these parents, many single moms, are the bravest souls I know! Within days or weeks most found Cannabis Patient Network Institute and now their children are 99% seizure free or they’ve begun the cancer treatment they came for-- quality of life has begun anew for most families, but they struggle without family and community support! Help us help many families such as this! Let’s put together a community house to help families transition from the homes they know to Colorado—temporary support to bridge the gap until they can get on their feet and into a home of their own! Help CPNI get some of these families out of hotels!!

8/23/13 :

Almost died to today. I was driven off the road by an angry maniac on my bike. I caught the flash of the WEHO Sherrifs in the corner of my eye when I threw profane language back at this psychopathic driver in the bike lane trying to get me to twist. I was actually close to death before he flew by me.
And dammit if the WEHO sherrifs did a coin toss of who they thought was guilty of a crime based on the color of his skin. What's more, they were they same Deputies from the homeless incident recorded here two days earlier. (Deputies David Cusiter and Sherrif Hatfield) Instead of going after the felonious criminal who just tried to kill me they pulled me over, immeadeatly said I WAS Disturbing the peace somehow by driving in the bike lane and being nearly sicked. Now, Not only did I sound the synch of the same snitch pricks but they knew they knew me and put me in the clink for the night as a good scolding for calling them to the quick. Not that the entire ride was not recorded on their dashboard thingy, thingies that they will have to provide as proof to court when I lawyer UP! Which, by the way, I weirdly choked with you done fu**ed up language. (12:10pm-11:00pm) {charges-First Assault and Battery-which they actually tried to charge me with after a public library employee escorted me out of the weho branch library and I had to push him off of me on PUBLIC GROUND!} You know, protecting yourself from a system you should not be paranoid of. Whats worse, after realizing they could neither put me in prison for a pectulant child but that child would have to drink his ink in court.
Now: The warrant-Wouldn't you guess I got a citation when I was on venice beach and some cruisey white dude thought me thick dick number one and could get s*x from me for free that; He, calls the police and 10 of them show up with twitchy fingers on tasers and handguns, Dreamed to believe their false witness and the witness , said I had a gun. Boo. Right. And, I had to shed poison tears for my people lest they gun me down. After handcuffing me for this and realizing I was homeless they wrote me a 50 dollar ticket for open container for the can laying next to me on the basket ball courts. This ticket has expanded to a failure to appear warrant garnering a 520$ fee. Yeah, thank you gov't for giving me nothing except trying to get me to kill myself. ( if you look closely at my booking sheet you will see bail set at 20,000) They were actually going to try to imprison me for life at cutthroat game...He has ties to No one! Wow. right. They even weirdly smoked my property(listing my purple bag as brown. So, I guess I was not supposed to get it back. And after siching the bike ....The damn DESTROYED itself. Kill me in the face next time.

And now I am serving time and crime for their awful mistakes. That I spent a night in jail and had my last bike retrieved and ruined by the WEHO Police. My bike is gone...again. (Tag #80)
While at the "facilities" I was treated with disdain and like a "ni**er who should stay in line and have no emotions." By a Deputy Solomon. My spirit was almost crushed if not for a Deputy Penate who saw sanity ion the sea of trigger happy LA COPS! Why are they still thinking the world is locked in the 80's (if not for the style right now) I'll never know.

4 Ways Using Even Legal Ma*****na Makes You a Second-Class Citizen 05/03/2018

But even in legal ma*****na states, pot smokers face restrictions that in effect turn them into second-class citizens, unable to do things non-drug users or users of legally sanctioned drugs, such as alcohol, can do, or somehow punished for doing them. While legalizing ma*****na is a giant breakthrough, as long as ma*****na users face stigma, discrimination, and worse over their choice of substances, the job is only half-done.

Here are four ways even legal ma*****na users get screwed:

4 Ways Using Even Legal Ma*****na Makes You a Second-Class Citizen Legalizing w**d is only half the battle. Ma*****na is now legal in nine states constituting about one-fifth of the U.S. population, and medical ma*****na is recognized in a total of 29 states. That means people in those states can possess and use ma*****na without fear of criminal prosecutions (if t...

Temporary License Extensions:

Temporary licenses for retailers, distributors, microbusinesses, testing laboratories and cannabis event organizers that were issued with an effective date of January 1, 2018 will expire on April 30, 2018. Temporary licenses may be extended for 90-day periods if the licensee submits a complete annual license application before the expiration date.

To submit a completed annual license application, you must submit documents as requested for each component of the application. After the Bureau receives your completed application, the Bureau may extend your temporary license. The Bureau will then perform a substantive review of the documents provided as part of the application to determine if all requirements are met. If the Bureau determines that the documentation is insufficient, you will be notified by the Bureau.

No extensions will be granted to temporary licensees who do not submit an annual license application prior to the expiration date on their license. If the temporary license expires, the business will be required to cease operations until an annual license has been issued, as operating a commercial cannabis business without an active state license is a violation of the law.

Live Scan Requirement:

One of the requirements for the annual license application is that Live Scan fingerprinting be completed for each person who qualifies as an “owner” of the business. The ‘Request for Live Scan’ form will be sent to the applicant via email or mail once the annual application has been submitted to the Bureau. The Live Scan form can be taken to any Live Scan operator to have your fingerprints submitted to Department of Justice. The below link provides a list of locations for Live Scan fingerprinting services available to the public.

6. Under the “action” column a green “amendment link” will appear. The amendment link will open the amendment type page.

7. Select the “submit license type attestation” to complete the annual application.

8. After the annual application is submitted, a notification will go out to all owners listed on the application that they need to register online and complete an owner submittal form.

9. The owner submittal form icon is located at the top of the screen and will open the form. To complete the owner submittal form, you must have the annual application record number for the cannabis business for which you are an owner.

Notes: Each temporary application that was issued must have a separate annual application submitted to the Bureau. If you have any questions about this notification or any other requirements, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].

People with ma*****na crimes on their record can clear them up under Prop. 64; most haven't - The Cannifornian 04/03/2018

The DPA estimates that up to one million people were eligible to have their crimes downgraded or cleared under Prop. 64. For those people, a change in their criminal background would mean wider access to jobs, housing, financial aid and other services that are currently out of reach. The DPA also estimates that 6,000 people who were in jail or prison when Prop 64 passed might be eligible to get their sentences reduced or even to go free.

But so far, those are mostly just projections. More than 16 months after the measure passed, state data shows only a fraction of those who can clear up their records have even applied to do so.

Since 2007, the DEA has taken $3.2 billion in cash from people not charged with a crime 04/02/2018

These seizures are all legal under the controversial practice of civil asset forfeiture, which allows authorities to take cash, contraband and property from people suspected of crime. But the practice does not require authorities to obtain a criminal conviction, and it allows departments to keep seized cash and property for themselves unless individuals successfully challenge the forfeiture in court. Critics across the political spectrum say this creates a perverse profit motive, incentivizing police to seize goods not for the purpose of fighting crime, but for padding department budgets.

Since 2007, the DEA has taken $3.2 billion in cash from people not charged with a crime The practice, known as, civil asset forfeiture is completely legal -- but a new report is raising ethical questions.

Former Head of the NRA Calls Demands Gun Reform for Medical Ma*****na Patients 02/12/2018

I WAS WONDERING WHEN THE NRA would weigh in to help the Cannabis consumers... you know, they want everyone to have a gun.

Last week, the former head of the National Rifle Association (NRA) came out in defense of medical ma*****na users in an opinion piece for The Washington Times, pleading with the federal government that “trading a constitutional right for pain relief is a choice no one should have to make.”

“Since gun purchasers must sign a form swearing they are not habitual drug users,” said David Keene, who is now an editor at large for the news outlet, “a holder of a ma*****na prescription cannot both answer the question honestly and buy a firearm today from a gun dealer anywhere in the country.

Maine becomes first state to protect ma*****na use outside of work 02/09/2018

Beginning today, employers in Maine are prohibited from discriminating against employees based on their ma*****na or ma*****na byproduct use outside of work, attorneys at Littler Mendelson report. Maine's Labor Department also removed the drug from the list of substances for which employers may test applicants.

The law prohibits employers from disciplining or refusing to hire workers age 21 or older based on their off-site ma*****na use. Employers are still free to prohibit its use and possession in the workplace and can discipline employees who are under the influence of ma*****na in the workplace. According to Littler, a spokesperson for the state labor department says that a positive test result won't be enough to prove that an employee was under the influence.

Littler says Maine's law doesn't affect compliance with federally mandated testing for ma*****na, like that required by U.S. Department of Transportation regulations.

"Until I left for Israel in 2013, I sat around all day writing (patients) narcotics (prescriptions)," Jeff Goldstein, the oncologist in question, said to a room full of people during an open house at the facility over the weekend, reports The Boston Globe.

Turns out, he added, "patients were preferring and using medical cannabis."

With No Help from Feds, States Turn to Legal W**d and Safe Injection Sites to Combat Opioid Crisis - Health | MERRY JANE 01/26/2018

It's been three months since President Donald Trump stood in front of the nation and declared America's opioid epidemic a public health emergency, but not much has changed since. Now, one year and thousands of opioid-related deaths into Trump's presidency, states, cities, and local municipalities are taking matters into their own hands and turning to cannabis reform and evidence-based health practices to try and save their communities from the grip of pharmaceutical-fueled death.

In the last months of 2017, health experts, addiction specialists, politicians and Trump's own opioid commission alike echoed the same request, calling for the president to free up heaps of federal funding to combat the crisis as a national emergency. Instead, Trump allocated cash to an ad campaign, with no additional funding for addiction-related healthcare, counseling, or evidence-based programs.

In a new interview with CNN, Congressman Patrick Kennedy, one of the opioid commission's six members, said that Trump and Republicans in Congress have turned the commission's work into a "charade" and a "scam."

8 Facts About Cannabis and Diabetes 01/05/2018

Cannabis is helpful for treating diabetes-induced glaucoma.

One of the complications that may arise from diabetes is eye disease. Diabetic eye disease is a group of conditions affecting eye problems as a result of diabetes. Among these, glaucoma is extremely prevalent; since people with diabetes are twice as likely to develop this eye condition compared to non-diabetics. If nerve damage in the eye worsens because of glaucoma, this condition may lead to blindness. However, medical cannabis has already long been proven to be a viable treatment for glaucoma. Cannabis addresses the inflammation that causes glaucoma.

CALIFORNIA CANNABIS FOR DUMMIES - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR TOMORROW 01/02/2018

Challenges and Obstacles

2018 is going to be a great year for California consumers, no matter what, but that doesn’t mean that the market is spared of its own obstacles. For one, the increased tax rates for both businesses and consumers may just contribute to the growth of the black market. This is going to be particularly painful for medical users since many of them can’t afford the increase in prices. Local governments will have the liberty to impose taxes on growing too, which makes all the rules all the more confusing from one city to another.

Another obstacle is the federal government, since cannabis sales are still considered federally illegal. However, California as well as the other states that have legalized recreational cannabis will be faced with no choice but to move ahead with the plans although they have to be ready for any legal battles down the line.

House of Commons Passes Ma*****na Bill in Canada 11/29/2017

Three major amendments had been made to Bill C-45 prior to its passing.

First, there will no longer be a height limit on plants grown at home. Originally, the legislation called for a 100 cm cut-off for all ma*****na plants cultivated in private residences. Parliamentarians, including NDP Health Critic Don Davies, were against the idea.

“There was absolutely no compelling reason to justify a 100 cm limit,” said Davies in a previous interview with Ma*****na.com. “You don’t want to criminalize gardening. Don’t make our police officers have to carry yardsticks.”

Another amendment was the inclusion of mandatory regulations for edibles no later than one year after Bill C-45 is enacted. Previously, the Liberal government had been dragging their feet on the issue and did not address edibles with any timeline in the original legislation.

A final tweak was a promise to review the legislation in three years time for any modifications that might be required.

The 265 members of Congress who sold you out to ISPs, and how much it cost to buy them 11/27/2017

Republicans in Congress just voted to reverse a landmark FCC privacy rule that opens the door for ISPs to sell customer data. Lawmakers provided no credible reason for this being in the interest of Americans, except for vague platitudes about “consumer choice” and “free markets,” as if consumers at the mercy of their local internet monopoly are craving to have their web history quietly sold to marketers and any other third party willing to pay.

The only people who seem to want this are the people who are going to make lots of money from it. (Hint: they work for companies like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T.) Incidentally, these people and their companies routinely give lots of money to members of Congress.

So here is a list of the lawmakers who voted to betray you, and how much money they received from the telecom industry in their most recent election cycle.

In These States, Past Ma*****na Crimes Can Go Away 11/21/2017

Provisions that allow certain records to be sealed were an uncontroversial part of a 2015 law that codified the ballot initiative, said Amy Margolis, a lawyer and director of the Oregon Cannabis Association, a trade association and advocacy group. It helped that Oregon already made it fairly easy for people convicted of minor crimes to get them set aside, she said.

California has message for the state's new legal pot industry: Pay your taxes

State regulators estimate the California market could eventually generate $1 billion in taxes and fees annually. But the industry has resisted handing over its share of profits to the state treasury, and the pressure is on to reduce delinquencies and force scofflaws to pay up. Industry officials and state regulators say a proposed carrot-and-stick approach to taxes may lead to more compliance in the future.

PAY YOUR TAXES, that is how they got Capone, Gotti and many others.

The upcoming public workshop will be an opportunity to learn about recent and upcoming changes in law regarding commercial cannabis activity, including the City’s newly established Department of Cannabis Regulation and the City’s forthcoming Social Equity Program.

In order to make sure that the City of Los Angeles does this right – to ensure that new cannabis policies, legitimate business opportunities and job opportunities within the emerging cannabis industry are both responsible and equitable -- we need to hear from you!

Please plan to attend and share this invite with others.

South Korea president Moon Jae-in warned that further acts of aggression could result in the “complete destruction,” of North Korea.

“In case North Korea undertakes provocations against us or our ally, we have the power to destroy (the North) beyond recovery,” Moon Jae-in said.

Moon Jae-in reportedly assembled his National Security Council shortly after the launch, where he said North Korea had once again breached United Nations Security Council resolutions.

THIS IS NOT GOING TO END WELL if negotiations aren't reached.

California bans drones from delivering ma*****na 09/11/2017

Drones delivering hamburgers, beer, and Amazon products might be right around the corner, but don’t get your hopes up if you want your w**d sent to you via robot. That’s because California’s Bureau of Cannabis Control has recently unveiled new regulatory rules that will ban drones from delivering ma*****na, as spotted by Ars Technica. The Bureau is currently developing regulation surrounding w**d use and sales under the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA) after recreational ma*****na was legalized in California.

Panel bans ma*****na possession, ads at Las Vegas airport 09/08/2017

Clark County commissioners have banned ma*****na possession and advertising at the airport in a vote Tuesday that raised the possibility travelers leaving town with less than an ounce could get a ticket and have their ma*****na confiscated.

If federal Transportation Security Administration screeners find pot at security stations, they can alert Las Vegas police, officials said. Violators could face a misdemeanor charge or civil fines.

The decision keeps airport rules consistent with Federal Aviation Administration rules that consider ma*****na an illegal substance, officials said.
