Last month we hosted our Spring Recital at Muhlenberg College, and what a wonderful weekend! 🌼

Our students did a fantastic job showing off what they’ve been working on in their lessons, and we love seeing their hard work culminate on the stage 🎶 We are so proud of all of our performers!!!

⭐ June Teacher Feature ⭐

Our teacher feature for the month of June is Luis! 🎸

Luis is a guitarist and composer raised in Bethlehem, PA. He started off his musical journey playing traditional Puerto Rican folk music with his family and playing for the church on Sundays, helping him develop a strong appreciation for improvisation and using music as a tool for expression and meditation 🧘 Luis continued his career at Kutztown University as a proud member of the Jazz I Ensemble and the five-time Downbeat Award winning Blues and Rock Ensemble I, ultimately earning his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance.

Luis continues to write and perform in a diverse multitude of genres including Latin, jazz, blues, rock, R&B, funk, and neo-soul. As an educator, Luis is passionately committed to investing in each student’s education and growth. He teaches music as a language and engages his students in activities that challenge them to be creative, disciplined, flexible, and cooperative with others. 🎶

Luis is bi-lingual and can teach in both English and Spanish. Luis es bilingüe y puede enseñar tanto en inglés como en español.

🌟 June Student Spotlight 🌟

Our student spotlight for the month of June is Grayson!

“Grayson continues to help me grow, not just as a teacher, but as a person in my everyday life. He teaches me to be more attentive, to find comfort in routine, to pause, and to place high value in relaxation and techniques for nervous system regulation. He’s shown a lot of progress over the past couple of months, and I’m very proud of him. Working with him has been an absolute joy, and I’d like to take a moment to congratulate him on completing his first Piano Adventures book! 🎹

Grayson has autism so his brain is a bit different than mine, but it’s been a wonderful learning process for me to discover the unique perspective of a human being in his shoes. I, like many, struggle with my own brand of neurodivergence so I resonate deeply with the stress that comes with sensory overstimulation and nervous system dysregulation. The world is filled with people with all types of thought patterns and experiences. Learning to understand others is a powerful step towards learning more about oneself. I’ve known this, but I must thank Grayson for bringing this lesson to the forefront of my mind and reminding me of its importance in our everyday lives. ⭐ May Teacher Feature ⭐

Our teacher feature for the month of May is Liam! 🎸

Liam's passion for music started at a young age and heightened in 2015 when he began performing at open mics in venues across the Lehigh Valley. He brought his passion for open mics to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where he graduated with a B.S. in Music Education and hosted IUP open mic nights as a member of the BACCHUS organization for three years 🎤 Liam has been playing guitar for over 10 years and cello for over 5 years, with experience playing and teaching piano, violin, bass guitar, ukulele, and voice.

Liam has developed a strong passion for teaching, having taught for IUP's Community Music School and participating in the IUP String Project. Now, Liam is a music educator in the Allentown School District. He also enjoys writing and producing music with acoustic and electronic instruments! Thank you Liam for being a vital member of our TLC community 🤘🧑‍🏫🎻
