What do you know from your lived experience that you want to share with others? What questions are swirling in your head that you want to clarify and investigate?

There is often a schism between research and practice. Action Research connects the two, legitimizing and uplifting practitioners' knowledge by providing them with a methodology to collect, synthesize, and articulate their experience. Your knowledge is important to the world and should be shared!

Then consider applying to our nationally acclaimed Summer Institute, which includes an in-person, week-long summer intensive (July 7-11, 2025) at our new, state-of-the-art, ADA-accessible home in Berkeley.

" I am a dancer, teacher and wellness coach in New York City, having worked with a multitude of modern and ballet companies, colleges and dance programs throughout the world for more than four decades. Even as I was developing as a dance artist in my youth, I was compelled to create art - interweaving my love of movement with different fine art mediums.

Over the last few years I have been enjoying pencil portraiture and line drawing - the process of quieting the mind and finding expression through movement and fine art is incredibly powerful, inspiring and grounding."

"DIRKABSTRACT" by Jeffrey Hankinson was created in 2024 during the Covid lockdown.

Read Jeffery's touching story about this amazing piece: "I was very intrigued at how during the pandemic our necessary isolation also brought about reconnections with long lost friends and family. I reunited with a very close friend who now resides in Germany also a former dancer Mr. Dirk Platzek, who I worked with in the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and the Elisa Monte Dance company. For whatever reason when I moved from NYC to Minneapolis and Dirk Moved back to Europe, we lost contact with each other. We reunited over zoom during the pandemic, and it is wonderful to have him back in my life! This painting for me is like an intersection of life. People will always come and go but if there is true love and friendship your paths will cross again and again."
