another full teardown big restoration of a 1950s hideabed to go with the antique rocker i finished a couple weeks ago

I may not always be the cheapest, but I never cut corners and if there is an issue it will be found and repaired. 1950s rocker that was in rough shape, switched from straw padding on the seat to foam for a little more comfort, knocked apart every loose joint and reglued, replaced a few boards. customer like the worn wood so did a clean up, wax and polish.

This is a post to show a detailed view of why it is better to reupholster older furniture or bring it to me if it is newer to be reinforced, this piece is only a couple years old and was failing, new furniture is made of plywood and lightweight soft woods, just butted together and stapled, older furniture is made of hard woods in the stress spots, glued and dowels, I replace all the support with higher quality webbing, knock apart glue and reinforce and loose joints, I added corner blocking for support, the plastic legs where breaking made new wood legs, secured the board that supports the seat springs with glue and screws as these separate bc they are just stapled and tend to break from the factory if kids bounce on them, add new layer of cotton and burlap, new stuff has no padding on the outside, the foam was already really soft so I replaced with a high quality stiffer foam so it was easier for them to get out of, older customers tend to like this but I do have softer options, can usually do this for around the price of a new piece and you can pick exactly what material you want, the faux leather on this is vinyl so will not peel is soft and has the leather look for a fraction of the price

Most things can be repaired for a reasonable cost, this i found a really close match on vinyl, and we can always replace the outside back with a close match or different fabric if the back is not seen and use that material to do the repair for an exact match
