Words help to make us feel not so alone when they resonate with us.
I hope this one resonates with someone who is living through the simultaneous feelings.

It is important to remember that grief is not the same and that each of us have permission to feel it in any way that we need hour by hour.
This is a safe place to relate and hopefully find comfort in the fact that you are not alone and all of your feelings are valid.

Definition of Grief: deep and poignant distress caused by or as if by bereavement - Merriam-Webster
There are many definitions of grief. Here at Falling Sparrows, I understand that grief encompasses so much emotion it almost seems impossible to define. I want this to be a safe place to share and work through your grief. A community of support.

My girls and I went to see Wicked last night at the Orpheum. I have heard this song a million times but last night as I watched it play out on stage, I realized it is such a great example of an end of life conversation. They did not wait to see how the story played out and hope for time to say what they wanted to say. They said the important things- thank you, I’m sorry, forgive me, and I love you- before it was too late. Let me encourage you today to do the same.

My name is Erin Kossivi. I am a 39 year old mom of 3. My husband Charles died in Jan 2021 after spending five years dealing with cancer. I have spent many years as a hospice RN and over the last few years, have focused on caring for people in grief and expanding the role of the hospice nurse by working alongside hospice to offer holistic care to people facing life limiting illnesses and their families. I am a follower of Jesus and that guides my interactions and my perspective on death and grief. I respect all people’s belief systems but my perspectives originate from my relationship with Jesus.
