Another hot day is in store for North and Central Texas with highs in the upper 90s to 107 degrees. An Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory is in effect for most of the region. Stay cool and hydrated today! 🌡️☀️

Fourth of July increases 9-1-1 calls due to fireworks. When should you call 9-1-1? 🇺🇸
Report fireworks within city limits, noise violations, prohibited "sticks and fins", and other code violations to non-emergency numbers.
Call 9-1-1 if fireworks cause a fire, an injury, and to report homemade fireworks or suspicious materials.
NEVER HANG UP! You may have called 9-1-1 by accident, or your situation may have resolved, but it is important to let the 9-1-1 operator know this. If you end the call abruptly, the 9-1-1 center is going to assume that something has gone very wrong and will either call your back or send help anyway.
Make sure the 9-1-1 call taker tells you it is okay to disconnect before you hang up. And keep in mind that the call taker can dispatch responders to your location without disconnecting from the call, so stay on the line so that you can provide any necessary information or assistance to the 9-1-1 operator while responders are en-route.
Know your local non-emergency phone numbers. Call for non-emergent situations and if you are ever unable to reach 9-1-1.

"This was never a job I ever considered until I applied for it. Now I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. I'm honored to get to work with our officers every day and feel like I am making a difference to them. They call us the 'calm voice in the dark' for a reason and it feels good knowing that when the scene is chaotic, the officers know they can count on me to come over the radio with a calm and steady voice to help them remain calm and keep from breaking. I've dealt with some very difficult calls during my tenure, and being able to keep control on the radio during very stressful situations gives me a sense of relief and peace knowing that hearing my voice on the other end helps those officers be able to keep their composure and help them to make it through the remainder of the call."
