CANCELED FOR 2021
TURTLE FESTIVAL"A Fun Day in the Park for Kids!"Hosted by the Belton Kiwanis Hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Belton, Texas, the annual Turtle Festival is designed to positively impact children’s lives by partnering with community organizations, matching needs with opportunities, and fostering the development of key relationships.
Operating as usual
When the Belton Kiwanis Club first started the Turtle Festival 15 years ago, it was designed to be a “Fun Day in the Park for Families”. We provided fun activities for children at no cost. To enable us to offer the activities for free, we added vendors who sold family-friendly items and we also gave organizations that offer services to families a free platform to display what they offered. Of course, the rubber turtle race was the high point of every Festival.
After a 2-year hiatus for the pandemic, we planned the Turtle Festival as always, the last Saturday in April. This week we were surprised by cancellations of activities which left us with mainly vendors. We made the difficult choice to cancel the festival rather than offer a vendor fair with very limited activities for the children.
This was an emotionally difficult decision for our club, but we are hopeful to be able to once again offer a “Fun Day in the Park for Families” at a later date. We appreciate our loyal exhibitors, many of whom have been with us from the beginning, the community which has been so supportive, and are very sorry for any inconvenience.
This is so hard for me to do, but because of circumstances beyond our control we have had to cancel the Turtle Festival. We will be notifying everyone who has already purchased adoptions for refunds.
If you’re having trouble finding a Kiwanian to buy adoptions from, send a PM and I’ll find someone to meet you somewhere.

Now that things have died down a little, what was your favorite activity at the Turtle Festival? What would you like to see next year?
Faith had faith and hung around and actually won the live turtle raffle.
Ultimate turtle race!
Come on out and meet the famous turtles who raced on KCENTV! You can buy a raffle ticket for $5 or 3 for $10 and possibly bring home your own celebrities!
Thanks to a generous donation, we will be raffling off a pair of red-eared sliders with the tanks, equipment, food, and everything you'll need for them! We will require a parent's written consent to enter the raffle! And if you win, you'll have 2 turtles to enter into the real live turtle race next year!
I know it’s small, but here’s the map with the vendors listed!
Here's what's happening at the Gazebo--10:00 is the Capp Polka Band, 11:00 is the BHS String Quartet, Noon is the South Belton Middle School String Quartet, 12:30 High Point Elementary Choir, 2:00 will be South Belton Middle School Jazz Band, and at 3:00 will be Southwest Elementary Choir. Quite an array of entertainment.
It is officially Turtle Festival Day! I'm so excited--there are so many great vendors coming, community agencies who are bringing games and activities, free activities paid for by our wonderful sponsors, and the food vendors....you might have to just roll me home! Don't miss any of the excitement!
