ABSENT W AN EXCUSE I’D RATHER NOT HAVE: It’s front page news but for me it’s been a life-changing event. I missed the April 20th City Council Meeting due to having a 4.5 hour major surgery on April 17th to remove a cancerous gland. I apologize to all Ward 6 residents for not being able to make it but I was in no condition yet to do so 3 days after surgery and my doctor’s order for rest for at least 1 week after surgery. I never stopped assisting residents with issues and worked last week by phone with a couple of residents to resolve concerns with the help of City Staff. I’m baaaack & the greatest news of all? The doctors are confident all cancer was addressed & a full recovery is likely. I have, will and fully intend to continue serving the residents of Ward 6 & the City of Belleville. We’re making progress & there’s much more to do. I intend to be present for our future & mine.

ORCHARDS RESIDENTS! This road closure may impact the rear entrance to the subdivision and access to Mascoutah Avenue.

ROAD CLOSURE! As part of the flood mitigation project in progress in the Belle Valley area, COOL VALLEY DRIVE will be closed for an extended period of time. Although it will be an inconvenience for now, this will be a terrific project to reduce the continual flooding in the area. 

LADERMAN PARK IMPROVEMENTS: New Playground equipment will be installed to replace the existing equipment installed back in the 1990s. A needed improvement!

MORE IMPROVEMENTS COMING TO WARD 6! The City of Belleville approved & will be part of improvements to South Illinois Street. They are definitely needed. There will be some delays with traffic but will be worth it.

SO LONG IN ITS FUTURE: These two properties on Freeburg Ave near the intersection of East McKinley & South Charles Streets will be coming down. They have been eyesores for years & a danger to the neighborhood. Work has to be done to the utilities to prepare them for demolishon. Great news for the neighborhood!

ROAD CLOSURE! The project to reduce or end the flooding on Belle Valley & Cool Valley Drives is underway. Unfortunately there will be some disruptions but it will be worth it in the end!

INDUSTRIAL PARK IMPROVEMENTS: Parts of Belleville’s Industrial Park are having their roadway improved. These are along Marsh & Empire Drives. The Park is an important part of our City as it houses dozens of businesses & draws hundreds of workers daily. Those workers buy gas, food & shop in Belleville, not to mention the tens of thousands they provide in property & sales taxes. Other streets in Ward 6 are also scheduled for repair this year!
