Everyone starts somewhere.

For a lot of people in the trades, that start comes through an apprenticeship.

It is a chance to learn the work, build confidence, and take the first step into a career that lasts. For many, it also opens the door to steady, in-demand opportunities in the trades.

As America reflects on 250 years of craftsmanship, it is a reminder that the future of this industry depends on people who are willing to learn and take pride in what they do.

After nearly 100 years, Gundlach Tools has seen how important that first step can be, and it is something we continue to support through our Precision Machining Technology (PMT) and Welding apprenticeships.

National Apprenticeship Week is a good time to celebrate successes.

One stand-out example is Kelvin Powell, who completed his Precision Machining Technology (PMT) apprenticeship with Gundlach Tools and went on to become a Journeyman.

Over more than 3,500 hours, Kelvin worked alongside his mentor, Dennis Dickerson (Gundlach manufacturing supervisor), building the skills and experience that come from learning the trade the right way.

This is a great example of what apprenticeship can lead to.

You can usually tell when someone has learned by doing.

It shows in how they approach the work, how they handle the details, and how they take pride in getting it right, often shaped by working alongside someone experienced.

That kind of mentorship builds confidence, helps skills develop faster, and shapes how someone grows in the trade. It is a big part of what apprenticeships are really about.

As the country reflects on 250 years of craftsmanship, it is a good reminder that this kind of experience is what keeps standards where they should be.

At Gundlach Tools, that has always mattered to us, and it is a big part of what we focus on through our TORCH Apprenticeship Program.

Skilled trades are not slowing down, and the need for trained professionals keeps growing.

Workers who complete Registered Apprenticeship programs earn an average of $300,000 more over their careers compared to those who do not.

That is where apprenticeships make a real difference. They help build a workforce that knows how to do the job right, from the ground up.

At Gundlach Tools, we see that impact every day in the field.

National Apprenticeship Week is here, and this year it means a little more.

As the country marks 250 years of craftsmanship and progress, it is a reminder that every generation helps shape what comes next.

At Gundlach Tools, we have seen that firsthand for nearly 100 years. This industry is built on what gets passed down. Skills, standards, and pride in quality craftsmanship are learned by doing.

That belief led us to create our TORCH Apprenticeship Program, with positions in Precision Machining Technology (PMT) and Welding, to help carry those standards forward.

Take a minute to hear why apprenticeships matter to us and to the future of the trades.
