My Dad was in the first convoy of Liberty Ships from Europe to the Panama Canal to join in the Pacific Theater when the Captain called everyone on deck to watch the bow. There was dead silence. The nose of the ship turned right (starboard). The Captain announced Japan has surrendered. The War is Over!
