Hey Hudson Valley and Catskill friends!
Iβm so excited to be part of this yearβs Beacon Selfcare Crawl in Beacon NY. Iβll be joining all the other awesome local wellness professionals, restaurants, and shops. on Saturday, September 7 - 12pm-8pm.
Participants include local businesses that will offer a sampling of the health, beauty, food and fitness offerings from local gems you need to know. Each crawler will purchase a ticket and gain access to the treatment, service, or classes of their choice. The day of the crawl they will get a map that shows the participating businesses. Throughout the day, crawlers walk, run and bike around town to check out all of the selfcare and foodie options along the way. Every business offers a chance for crawlers to win a giveaway item valued at $100 or more. Plus, there will be opportunities for crawlers to experience dozens of freebies from group classes to healing sessions. More than 30 local businesses and vendors, and some 200 people participated in the first crawl. They were able to try out everything from healthy smoothie recipes, mini-massages, sauna sessions, yoga classes...and over 15 demonstrations of what selfcare means to us.
Iβll be hosting an in person Breathwork journey in Beacon as part of the crawl.

Hello sweet friends!
I took a bit of a pause with offering breathwork over the last few months as I needed to work through some of my personal energy clearing and healing. Breathwork, it turns out, is one of my primary ways of sharing healing energy with the world, so it felt necessary to take some time to breathe, align, and get clear.
I'm so excited to be back!

βWorking with Amy was transformational.β
Soon-to-be first-time mama, Silvie, came to me ready to address the chronic anxiety and worry she had been experiencing her entire life. She described the stress and worry as overtaking her, bringing her into a βfreezeβ state.
When working with me, she wanted to have tools to help her when she experienced anxiety and to have greater confidence in her decisions.
The freeze state is activated in the oldest part of our nervous system, the dorsal vagal path of the parasympathetic nervous system. Many of us also move into this state when we feel overwhelmed.
One of the most critical steps in addressing overwhelm is creating a sense of safety within the self.
It is said that humans need three things in terms of survival and a regulated nervous system β safety, belonging, and love.
Our focus was to create a sense of safety, belonging, and love within the self.
Somatic exercises helped Silvie tap into the feeling of safety. As we moved into the emotional release portion of our time together, she had massive revelations about the root of her anxiety and she quickly moved into self-compassion.
A few months later, as Silvie is about to give birth to her little girl, she is recognized within her high-profile job as being calm and focused and had a giant promotion before her maternity leave. She knows her identity as a mother and feels confident that she will be able to navigate any complexity that comes her way.
βI was able to build up my self-confidence and regain trust in myself. When I first started working with her I was experiencing challenging emotions around my career, motherhood, and self-esteem. I walked away from our work with a better understanding of who I am and a deepened love for myself.β

The main symptom of burnout is notβ¦
Anxiety. π±
(Despite what most people think) π€
Burnout is caused by chronic stress and anxiety from work and/or lifeβs general never ending responsibilities π€¦πΌββοΈ
And the symptoms of burnout are on the opposite end of the spectrum.
ππ» Difficulty concentrating
ππ» Fatigue
ππ» Loss of creativity
ππ» Detachment
ππ» Feeling sad and or overwhelmed
ππ» Digestion issues
Anxiety is a product of being in fight or flight (your sympathetic nervous system) ποΈ and prolonged and chronic anxiety often leads us into burnout.
Burnout is associated with fawn and freeze (a symptom of an unbalanced dorsal vagal nervous system) π₯Ά
And because of this, healing from burnout requires different support.
To overcome anxiety, we would talk about down-regulating your nervous system.
But when it comes to burnout, you are already down-regulated (in fact, a little too much).
β¨ So insteadβ¦β¨
Burnout recovery requires up-regulating the nervous system through toning the vagus nerve.

EFT AKA Emotional Freedom Techniques is a therapy technique (loosely based on acupuncture) which uses energy meridians in the body to release energy.
This energy release can then help eliminate various physical, emotional and mental issues.

Exhaustion or fatigue can manifest and show up as many different things.
If youβve been experiencing any of these symptoms, there is a chance that youβre exhausted π΄
This wonβt resolve itself overnight with one good night's sleep. Wouldnβt that be GREAT?!
Youβll need to look at your stress tolerance, how much movement youβre getting, your mindset, and potential supplements.

All of these tips are useful; however, they ignore a critical piece. β β β β β β β β β

Every emotion, every piece of food, every thought we experience, every word we speak impacts and influences our vibration.β β β β β β β β β

If you don't genuinely feel worthy of what you desire (there is no fooling the vibration), it's going to leave you in a place of frustration. Our lives are filled with big transitions. β β β β β β β β β

A few that are top of mind:β β β β β β β β β
The first breath we take. Our first steps. Graduating school. Getting married. Having babies... β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
Perimenopause. β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
It's not talked about enough, and this time in our lives is HUGE. β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
The unfortunate thing is that this transition is sometimes unrecognizable and undiagnosed until after we've endeared months or years of unexplainable symptoms. β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
I had many frustrating doctor appointments and discussions with experts where I've shared my symptoms. Most of the time I left still desperate to find answers. The one thing that wasn't explored: perimenopause. β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
After years of headaches, interrupted sleep, and inflammation I went on a self-discovery journey to the root of my symptoms. β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
Here are the three things that made an immediate impact.β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
π₯ I cut alcohol. It didn't make me feel great, my sleep suffered after I drank, and I would often wake drenched in my own sweat.β β β β β β β β β
π€ I focused on my sleep. I developed a nighttime routine, practiced mindfulness, and keep my room around 67 degrees to aid in a more restful night.β β β β β β β β β
π I started taking magnesium. Magnesium can help improve sleep and reduce anxiety, as well as a handful of other things like cramping, constipation, and bloating. β β β β β β β β β
β β β β β β β β β
I'm still learning. If you're in your late 30's to 50's and you've been experiencing unexplained symptoms, you might be going through perimenopause. β β β β β β β β β
