The Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia
May you all keep the history of Long Island Auto Racing in your heart, and pass it on from generation to generation.
We run on history, you will find nothing but history here.
In response to the posts that are currently circulating on numerous pages… nothing is being sold or thrown out. Yes, there is dumpster on the property, the dumpster is being used for scrap metal that has accumulated for the last 49 years. Items of value have not been thrown out contrary to what these posts have said. Please understand that there is no trespassing on the property, it is under 24 hour monitored surveillance. When more information is available about the sale or auction of items it will be made public. At this time we continue to ask for you to respect the Himes Family and give them the privacy they deserve.
Thank You!

During this uncertain time for the Museum, we still have some The Himes Museum Shirts available. They make a great holiday gift and it's a good way to remember Marty. I will be shipping these via USPS (Priority Mail, Usually 2 Days). They are $20 each plus shipping. The cutoff to have these delivered by Christmas will be December 15th.

Tomorrow we will celebrate the life of Marty Himes, Long Island’s Racing Encyclopedia… the man who gave his all to Long Island Auto Racing. Pastor Scott Kraniak of the Centereach Bible Church & Racing with Jesus Ministries will deliver a memorial reading at around 8:00pm. Anyone who wishes to speak about Marty, we would like you to do so after Pastor Scott’s words.
We thank you for your generosity and support of the memorial fund, the wishes, hugs, thoughts kind words and prayers you have all sent to our family. We appreciate it very much! This is not the end for Marty Himes, Marty Himes will live on in everyone’s memory!
We ask that you wear your Himes Museum shirt, a favorite racing shirt or something that will honor Marty. Marty was a simple man, nothing fancy, always wore his Museum shirt, Suffolk Police Department Shirt, or one of his famous flannels… So we ask you to do the same in his honor. We will gather to share his stories (whether they are true or not), lots of laughter, and his immense love for Long Island Auto Racing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marty Himes GoFundMe at: gofundme.com/marty-himes.

On Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11:51am, Marty Himes the owner, curator and historian of The Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia passed away surrounded by his family.
We as a family are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Marty’s funeral. As you all know Marty put his blood, sweat and tears into running the museum out of his own pocket since 1975. He always ran on a shoestring budget just to keep the memory of Long Island Racing alive, many of Long Island’s greatest racing legends are enshrined here. In this time of great sadness we need to raise $10,000 by October 27th in order to be able to afford the funeral services.
Those that knew Marty, knew that he would do anything for anyone at anytime day or night. Please consider donating if you are able to do so, anything is going to be helpful and greatly appreciated during this extremely difficult time.
Thank you from his entire family!
