BAY ST LOUIS MUNICIPAL HARBOR
TROPICAL STORM-HURRICANE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

In the event of a storm your slip is the least preferred place for your boat.
Hauling out or moving to a sheltered inland location is highly recommended, the owner of any vessel left in the harbor will be liable for any damages caused by their vessel and any salvage or environmental clean up costs.

The city of Bay St Louis accepts no responsibility for tending mooring lines.

Once a watch or warning is issued no additional boats will be allowed to berth in the harbor.

No one will be allowed to ride out a storm onboard a vessel in the harbor, the safety of the public is our primary concern, city officials will determine when conditions warrant a mandatory evacuation of the harbor.
Reentry to the harbor will not be allowed until the area has been declared safe.

As conditions deteriorate utility services to the harbor will be shut down, power pedestals will be removed anytime a surge of 4 feet or greater is predicted.

Fuel will not be available once the office trailer has been removed, approximately 36 hours before expected landfall.

Your vessel should always be moored for storm conditions, our popup storms can come at any time and generate tropical storm force winds and waterspouts, your vessel should always be prepared for these conditions.

Keep batteries charged and check automatic bilge pumps for proper operation.

Remove Biminis tops, canvas enclosures and sails.

Remove or secure any items on deck that may become airborne, fall into the harbor, or move and cause damage.

Empty contents of dockboxes.

Shutdown all nonessential battery operated systems to conserve power for bilge pumps.

Disconnect shore power cords and water hoses and secure onboard.

NOW is the time to review your hurricane plan and be sure you are prepared .
Check your dock lines, fenders and critical systems before they are put to the test.
Please feel free to contact the harbor office with any questions or concerns regarding storm preparations
Does anyone have any pictures of the fishing pier at the marina. I saw one on the weather channel busted off. Looked like the one at the marina. I thought for sure with all the board and the storm surge they would have pictures.
Does anyone have BSL harbor wifi password? I have two boats here. Thx.

FYI…after a brief initial inspection of the harbor, it appears we have made it through this storm pretty good. Most importantly, I hope everyone is safe and sound!!

I would like to thank everyone for the rapid response to our evacuation! We will update you all ASAP on when you can begin your return back to your slip. We will know much more tomorrow (Tuesaday) once the water has receded and we can make a much better assessment. We do need a couple of days to let the power pedestals properly dry before we can restore power to the docks. We will send out an email and update our page here once we have a better timeframe identified. Please stand by.

Thanks again!

We are keeping an eye on the gulf at this moment for a developing storm that has the potential to strengthen into a tropical system. According to the National Hurricane Center, there is a 90% chance of this development. Early track shows it to move into the central gulf and central Louisiana. However, these are very early predictions and we all know how this goes. Please be attentive to your emails, weather outlets and our FaceBook page. PLEASE have a plan in place in case we have to issue a mandatory evacuation of harbor.
