Our Artists

Gallery 220 is a co-operative gallery which was organized just five weeks after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Mississippi Gulf Coast on August 29, 2005. Located just a few blocks from the beach in an historic building in Old Town Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, Gallery 220 comprises a group of artists and business people who rose to the formidable challenges which the storm presented. Thanks to the perseverance and hard work of building owners Jenise McCardell and Mark Currier of Clay Creations, the building was cleaned out and repaired in time for the October Second Saturday Artwalk, a much loved tradition in Old Town.
Following is a list of the artists. We invite you all to visit us here in beautiful Bay St. Louis.

Michelle Allee - Michelle is a Gulf Coast artist who resides in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Her primary medium is acrylic paints, which she applies to unique textural surfaces. While Michelle has taken instruction internationally in various art techniques, she is primarily self-taught. Michelle has exhibited her work in galleries in Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, Virginia, Mississippi, Washington D.C. and Louisiana. Michelle's work my be seen at www.michelleallee.com.

Armand Douroux - Armand Douroux grew up playing among the surrounding bayous and waters of his New Orleans home. His boyhood adventures, full of family and love, created a foundation that has become the basis of his photography. He now calls the bayous and beaches of Bay St. Louis, MS his home and has imbued into his images the natural beauty of his neighborhood. Douroux has placed many of his images on post cards with quotes from well-known Southern writers, creating a slice of life to be shared. Framed and unframed prints are available and range in size.

Scott Blackwell - Scott creates all those wonderfully wacky fish with the big lips that contribute vivid splashes of color all over the area. Scott's work may be found at http://www.mombocompany.com.

Holly Boynes - Graduate of Nicholls State University, Thibodaux Louisiana, College of Arts and Sciences, in 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Art’s Degree. I enjoy all aspects of creating a piece of art with my hands. The ability to transform clay into an object is fascinating, and hand building with clay gives me absolute freedom to create. This freedom allows me to incorporate my life experiences into a work of art. I enjoy using several different types of vibrant glazes such as velvets, glosses, crystal glazes d specialty glazes. May art work is currently displayed at Gallery 220 in Old Town” Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. In addition, my artwork is displayed at festivals, farmer’s markets, cottages, and local stores. For example, Domino’s Sugar Festival, Sipping in the Sunset, Arabi’s Farmers Market, and Sippin’ on the Bayou. Custom orders accepted.

Barbara Brodtmann - Barbara Brodtmann uses her paintbrush to create impressions of life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Natural light has always been the main attraction for the artist’s choice of subject and color palette. To capture the unique light and color of the coast Brodtmann narrowed her focus to watercolor and acrylic. Born in Michigan and educated at Hillsdale College and Syracuse University, Brodtmann moved to New Orleans in the 1970s and began painting professionally. Eventually settling in coastal Mississippi. Brodtmann also has a long history of teaching art, to both children and adults. Working in partnership with local government and organizations, she has introduced thousands of children to art through the years. More recently, she has been teaching adults during her Wine, Women, and Watercolor sessions. Brodtmann’s work is featured at Behold Gallery and Gallery 220 in Bay St. Louis, MS and Le Jarden in New Orleans, LA. She also accepts commissions and creates portraits of children and pets
