More than two-thirds of the children tragedies could be avoided if gun owners stored their guns responsibly and prevented children from accessing them. Ms.

Children and Guns was created by Juanita Williams. For 16 years Ms. Williams could be found at numerous community events speaking to children about gun safety (Fest for All, Earth Day, Back to School Fest and numerous On-Site events/rallies). Williams passed away on July 2015 but she leaves behind a legacy of passion for our youth. Her three daughters Monica Handy, Precious Williams-Haney and Shannon Williams, endeavor to keep this legacy going and we all share our mother passion for the youth.

Each year during the month of February my mother Juanita Williams promoted a program called the Big Red Heart. This was a weekend set aside in February close to Valentine's Day to remember lives lost due to gun violence in the previous year. Family members were asked to come and place the name of a loved one lost due to gun violence on a Big Red Heart. The heart remains on display throughout the month of February. At the end of the month when we went to pick up the heart....we found that families were STILL coming putting the names of loved ones lost to gun violence on the heart......its cries out for a desperate need to put an end to/solution to the gun violence problem. This year the Big Red Heart will be displayed virtually on The Children and Guns page.

-You are invited to submit the name of love ones (in the comment section) who lost their lives from gun violence. On Saturday, February 13, 2021 during our Children and Guns Big Red Heart commemoration Day Event (being held virtually) each name will be read followed by a moment of silence honoring their memory.
