A Secret Service agent was struck at close range, but his vest stopped the round.

Law enforcement and Secret Service moved immediately, stopped the threat, and took the suspect into custody before it escalated further.

A night that could have gone very differently was contained because officers did not hesitate and did not fail the moment it mattered.
