To my fellow lawn care and landscaping business owners:
As our businesses grow, we eventually reach a point where the schedule is full, revenue is solid 📈, and we're comfortable with our workload. Then peak season hits ☀️🌧️, and employees start looking for ways to earn more money 💰.
So here's my question 🤔:
🔹 Option A: Add more properties 🏡 or another workday 📅 so your employees can get more hours, even if it cuts into your personal time ⏰.
🔹 Option B: Give them a raise 💵 and absorb the reduction in your own profit.
🔹 Option C: Keep the current schedule and pay structure, knowing it may create some frustration 👷♂️👷♀️.
One of the toughest parts of running a service business is balancing employee satisfaction with your own financial and personal boundaries ⚖️.

If somebody gave you a brand-new setup tomorrow, what are you choosing?
⛽ Gas-Powered Equipment
🔋 Battery-Powered Equipment
I'll be honest—I was raised on gas equipment, and it's still what I naturally gravitate toward. But battery-powered tools have come a long way. They're quieter, require less maintenance, and the performance is surprisingly good. 👏
My biggest issue is runtime. With gas, you fill it up and keep moving. With battery equipment, if your spare batteries aren't charged, the job can come to a halt. ⏳😩
Because of that, I still lean toward gas. But I'm starting to see why so many people are making the switch to battery. 🌿💪

And don’t just pick it… tell me WHY 🔥
I’m gonna be real—I prefer a sit-down zero-turn 🪑💨
For me, it’s all about comfort and endurance. When you’re cutting 8–10+ hours a day, you need something that’s easier on your knees, feet, and ankles. It’s a smoother ride, less body fatigue, and by the time you hit that last yard, you’re not completely worn out 😮💨💪
That’s why I stick with sit-down—it keeps me consistent, and consistency is what pays.
Now I get the stand-on crowd too 🚶♂️🔥
They say: ✔️ Better visibility on your lines and edges
✔️ Easier around flower beds and tight areas
✔️ Quick on/off for gates, trees, obstacles
✔️ Can shift your weight over bumps
✔️ Takes up less trailer space
✔️ Easy to step off fast if something goes wrong
I respect it… it definitely has its advantages.
But I’m still rocking with the sit-down zero-turn because comfort turns into endurance, and endurance turns into productivity. I don’t want to be standing up getting bounced around for hours on one property 😂🌿

Hurricane season is rough on lawn care companies here in South Louisiana. 🌀🌧️
The rain may stop, but that doesn't mean we can get right back to mowing. 🚜 After flash flooding and days of heavy rain 💦, yards stay saturated, equipment gets stuck, and cutting wet grass can damage your lawn. 🌱⚠️
We've still got more rain in the forecast ☔, which means even after the weather clears, it'll take a few days for properties to dry out enough to service safely. 📅🌿
Trust me, we're ready for the sunshine too! ☀️😎🔥

Everybody always got this debate going on when it comes to getting that edge looking clean and defined on a yard… w**d trimmer vs edger. 🌿✂️
Some folks swear a w**d trimmer can do it all. Others stand on the edger being the only way to get that sharp, crisp finish.
But in my opinion, a fresh blade on an edger wins every time when it comes to that clean, professional-looking line. 🔥
A w**d trimmer will work in a pinch, but let’s be real… you end up burning through way more string because it’s constantly hitting concrete, chewing it up, and breaking off. That’s not really what it’s designed for.
An edger is built for that job. It gives you a consistent cut, a cleaner line, and saves you from wasting line/string over and over again. 💪
At the end of the day, it’s a debate… but I want to hear it from y’all:

Belts wear out. Spindles fail. Engines need repairs. And sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. 🌧️⚙️🛠️

🚜 We do our best to keep every property on a consistent schedule, but sometimes life has other plans. Between heavy rain 🌧️, flooded yards , saturated ground , equipment breakdowns 🔧, and personal emergencies, we can occasionally get a little behind.
📅 That means your yard may be cut on a Wednesday one month, but due to weather delays, it might be Thursday, Friday, or even Saturday the next month.
🌱 We don't like falling behind, but we also don't want to damage your lawn by mowing when it's too wet or leave ruts in your yard.
☀️ The good news is that once the rain stops, the ground dries out, and conditions improve, we're right back at it! Working hard to get everyone caught up and keep every property looking its best. 🏡🌿

Y'all, don't let this heat fool you. Down here in Louisiana, it's not just the temperature you have to worry about—it's the humidity.
That humidity can drain you faster than you realize. The water, electrolytes, and fluids you're putting into your body are coming right back out through sweat.
Don't wait until you're thirsty to hydrate. Drink plenty of water, but remember that water alone isn't always enough. Your body also needs electrolytes, salt, and minerals to replace what you're losing. Keep some sports drinks, pickles, pickle juice, or salty snacks nearby if you're working outside for long periods.
Heat exhaustion, muscle cramps, and even heat stroke can sneak up on you quickly. Take breaks, find some shade when you can, and listen to your body. No lawn, job, or project is worth risking your health.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and take care of yourselves out there! 💧☀️🥵
