SCBaptist family, it is with a heavy heart we inform you that Dr. Carlisle Driggers passed away last night at his residence in Georgia. Dr. Driggers faithfully served as the Executive Director-Treasurer of the SCBaptist Convention from 1992 until his retirement in 2007.

I'm proud to have Bryant Sims on our staff at the South Carolina Baptist Convention as Chief Operations Officer (COO). His work in our state's effective operations--in both governance and properties management--is immense, and his passion for our SCBaptist people is contagious. I'm also thankful for his work on the national level, leading as Chairman of the SBC's Committee on Order of Business this year. Vanessa and I were blessed to worship with First Baptist Church of Charleston SC yesterday. Special thanks to my friend, the Rev. Dr. Marshall Blalock, for the sacred trust to jump into his sermon series by preaching Romans 12:9 (link below). FBC Charleston possesses a rich history and a contemporary singular focus on Great Commission cooperation. Her importance to Southern Baptist past, present, and future cannot be overstated. I am thankful for their partnership in the gospel from the first day (quite literally) until now.
