PLAY WITH PURPOSE 🎪

One of our favorite corners of Modern Munchkin is the playroom 💚🐛✨

It's a space built for curiosity, imagination, and a little bit of trial and error. After all, sometimes the best way to discover a new favorite toy is to sit down and play with it 🧸💕

Watching our munchkins explore, create, build, and pretend reminds us why we do what we do. The playroom gives little ones a chance to test out many of the toys we carry while parents get a closer look at what truly captures their imagination 🌈✨

This week's Modern Munchkin Moment goes to this sweet little explorer, fully immersed in play and making himself right at home 💛

That's exactly what the playroom is for.

One of the best parts of running a toy store? Having two very enthusiastic product testers at home. 😆

The munchkins behind The Modern Munchkin are constantly exploring, playing, building, collecting, and helping us discover what toys are truly worth loving. They're a big part of the inspiration behind this little shop, so we thought we'd share what's currently topping their favorites list 💕

🧸 For our stuffie-loving munchkin:
The brighter, fluffier, and more colorful, the better! If it can be cuddled, collected, and carried everywhere, it's probably coming home with her.

🫧 For our adventure-loving munchkin:
Anything that gets him moving is a win. Right now he's especially loving Pix Brix and Giant Bubble Sticks.

The Pix Brix are perfect for creative indoor play, while the Giant Bubble Sticks are responsible for some of the biggest bubbles we've ever seen. Seriously. MONSTROUSLY huge. The kind that stop neighbors in their tracks. 😲🫧

Around here, dinosaurs never go extinct ✨

There's just something magical about dinosaurs. They spark curiosity, fuel big imaginations, and inspire endless adventures millions of years in the making 🦕✨

Got a dino lover at home? Don't forget about our upcoming Fossil Frenzy workshop with Shannon & Joy on Saturday! Little explorers will get to create their own fossil-inspired clay treasures and step into the shoes of a real paleontologist for the day 🦴💕

FOSSIL FRENZY THIS SATURDAY 🦴🦕

Calling all dinosaur lovers, future paleontologists, and little adventurers! 🌋✨

Join Shannon & Joy, certified speech therapists and our resident art teachers, for a hands-on clay workshop where artists will dig into the prehistoric past and create their very own fossil-inspired treasures. From rolling slabs and creating texture to learning real clay-building techniques, this is the perfect opportunity for creative kiddos who love getting their hands a little messy 💚

🦖 Session 1: Mommy & Me (Ages 3–8)
🕤 9:30AM–11:00AM

🦖 Session 2: Drop-Off (Ages 9–12)
🕛 12:00PM–1:30PM

Each artist will create 4–5 clay pieces that will be professionally kiln-fired and ready for glazing at a future date. Once glazed and fired a second time, they'll have their very own prehistoric masterpieces to take home ✨

👕 Dress for a mess! Play clothes are encouraged.

We've been having way too much fun flipping through the Cook in a Book series at Modern Munchkin 💛

Tacos. Cookies. Cake. Pizza. Each book invites little chefs into the kitchen with tabs to pull, flaps to lift, wheels to spin, and ingredients to "mix" along the way. The best part? No spills, stains, or crumbs to clean up afterward 😅✨

Feeling adventurous? Each book also includes a real recipe at the beginning, so once you've practiced your skills in the story, you can head to the kitchen and bring the recipe to life together 🍴👩‍🍳✨

These clever, interactive books are a playful introduction to cooking, sequencing, following directions, and imaginative play, all wrapped up in a beautifully designed storybook.
