This week, the Baton Rouge rapper born Kentrell Gaulden etched his name deeper into hip-hop history, becoming the most charted rapper on the Billboard 200, with 34 entries — more than any other in the genre’s history.
The milestone comes as MASA, his latest album, debuts at No. 6 on the chart dated August 9, surpassing Bay Area veteran E-40, who previously held the record with 33.
YoungBoy’s rise has been as prolific as it is improbable. His career has unfolded at a staggering pace, with 34 Billboard 200 entries in just eight years — a total built not on legacy compilations or reissues, but almost entirely new material. By contrast, many of the artists closest to him on the all-time list — such as 2Pac, Nas, Jay-Z, and Future — have taken decades to accumulate similar totals.
Released July 25 via Never Broke Again/Motown/ICLG, MASA earned 49,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Luminate. It is YoungBoy’s 16th top 10 album, tying him with Jay-Z and Nas for third-most in rap history, behind only Drake (17) and Future (18).
But it’s not just the quantity that stands out. It’s the pace.
Since first appearing on the Billboard 200 in 2017 with AI YoungBoy, Gaulden has operated on a near-compulsive release schedule. In 2018 and again in 2022, he placed eight projects on the chart in each year. In 2025 alone, he has already landed two entries, despite spending time incarcerated on federal gun charges.
“I literally cannot help myself,” he admitted in a 2023 Billboard cover story. “It’s addictive. I wish I knew when I was younger how unhealthy this was for me.”
