Last night CBFD sent 3 members to the 2022 Genesee County Fire Officers Workshop.
Topics included: UAV Program Demo, E-PCRs, NFIRS software, Lithium Battery Awareness, CAN reports and other Genesee County Emergency Services information.
The workshop was well attended and provided an opportunity for our County’s Emergency Service Leaders to increase their knowledge and leadership skills.

The successful candidate will desire to be a part of the City’s vibrant and visionary culture; will be accessible and engage with the staff and community to reach shared community-wide goals; will have the ability to review and assess current operations and institute best practices. They will also be a strategic team builder who possesses the operational and tactical experience to lead the Fire Department. Reporting to the City Manager, the Fire Chief will lead a fully paid professional department consisting of 37 FTE including four captains, four lieutenants, 28 firefighters and one administrative support position while being responsible for a $3.9 million budget.
This will be a provisional appointment pending successful scoring on the Civil Service examination. Civil Service qualifications are graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma AND either two (2) years of full-time, paid experience as a Deputy Fire Chief, OR four (4) years full-time, paid experience as a Fire Captain, OR any equivalent combination of experience and training. AND, Candidates must also meet the following qualifications: In accordance with New York State Civil Service Law Section 58-a minimum qualifications for career Fire Chief at time of appointment.

Yard Waste Station Opening
The Law Street Yard Waste Station will open for the season on MONDAY, APRIL 11th, 2022 for City Residents.
The station will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday until November when time changes to 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The station will also be closed on May 30th for Memorial Day, July 4th for Independence Day, September 5th for Labor Day and November 24th for Thanksgiving. The station will close for the season in early December.
City residents may bring yard waste material (grass, leaves and limbs) to the Law Street Yard Waste Station as there is no spring curb side pickup of these materials.
The following items cannot be accepted at the station:
Tree stumps, building materials, rock, fill (soil and stone) other debris. Yard waste shall be free of trash (paper, plastic, bottles, cans…etc.), as this material cannot be processed.
Use Law Street entrance to enter and exit the City Yard Waste Station only
Good luck to these 4 as they head off to the New York State Academy of Fire Science to begin their firefighting careers!
CBFD now has a total of 6 recruits in 2 academy’s. With successful academy completions we hope to have them all online in August 2022!

Chief Herberger and Municipal Training Officer/Captain Fix spent this afternoon at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls (where they graduated in 2006) receiving information and materials for the upcoming Recruit Class.
CBFD will be sending 4 new recruits to begin their firefighting training in 2 weeks with 2 other recruits starting at the Utica Fire Academy this Sunday.
