Sharing gratitude to Congressman Tom Kean and his staff for enabling this for Bernards township - good things come to those who wait.
In 2024, I worked closely with township staff and the Congressman’s staff to submit this grant - the first time in recent township history to pursue federal funding. Our hard work not only resulted in submission but the selection to be one of 15 proposals put forth for appropriation consideration.
This grant funding eases tax burden on residents as this technology requirement was essentially an unfunded mandate, and hence why i chose to pursue it at the encouragement of the Congressman’s office staff.
Being open to try new things that can benefit our township is something i do and will continue to do.
Luckily this year our Mayor Ana Duarte McCarthy, Bernards Township Committeewoman participated in the same process, resulting in a submission for consideration for FY2027. Fingers crossed!
