Congratulations to Elgin Community Bikes, Milhouse Engineering & Construction Inc. and Spin Doctor Cyclewerks on their Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) designations! The League of American Bicyclists designated Milhouse Engineering and Construction as a new Bronze Level BFB and Elgin Community Bikes as a new Gold Level BFB. Spin Doctor Cyclewerks moved up to a Gold Level BFB, from their previous silver designation. Illinois now has a total of 25 BFB's!

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of my friend & former business partner, Ted Kahn, earlier this week. Spin Doctor Cyclewerks was Ted's dream, and I am fortunate that he asked me to join him in "Ted & Greg's Most Excellent Adventure". Ted was the perfect partner to have through the ups & downs of a retail startup, and I will be forever changed by his friendship. He is now in perfect health in his eternal home with our Heavenly Father. One day we will ride again. Tailwinds, Ted!

Greetings! Thought I would take a moment to give an update on bike inventory. We have been receiving bikes regularly over the past few weeks and still have some of them available to purchase. We currently have back orders in place that will be coming in over the next few months. However, there are still major disruptions affecting bike supply and inventory will be limited and difficult to secure for at least the next year. If you are considering a new bike, your best bet is to shop now and buy what is currently available. An alternative would be to get on our list to receive a call when your desired bike is available. Also, bikes may become available to order through the Giant Web Link online program. Simply go to giant-bicycles.com, navigate to your bike of choice, and if the bike is available you can add it to your cart. Select Spin Doctor Cyclewerks as your retailer during checkout and complete the process. Your new bike will be shipped to us and you will be notified when it is available for pickup. At home delivery is also an option. Remember, start the shopping process early for best selection. Thanks for your patience during this challenging time.

Today was Drew’s last day. Drew was recently accepted into West Point, and will be shipping off for basic training in early June. Drew has been with us since 2016 and will be missed. Congratulations Drew!

As an essential business, per Section 1:12e, we will remain open and will follow our usual business hours. However, we have changed the way we are conducting business in order to protect ourselves and our customers. The following procedures will be in effect until further notice:

-In order to maintain safe social distancing, we will limit the number of customers allowed in the store at any one time. If the door is locked when you arrive, please call 630-289-7360 and we will open the door.
-Latex gloves will be provided to anyone who wishes to touch any of our inventory.
-Bathroom access will be limited to store staff only.
-All surfaces are being routinely wiped down with disinfectant.
-We accept Apple pay and other similar phone based payment systems, and encourage their use in order to minimize touching of credit cards & processing terminal.
-All repair work will be checked in at the curb and brought into the store via the back door. Again, please call the store upon arrival and we will meet you on the sidewalk. Repair pick up will continue in store, as usual.
-If you are not comfortable coming to the store to pick up or drop off bikes for repair, please call to schedule at-home pick up or delivery.
-If you are currently exhibiting any symptoms, or think you may have been exposed to the virus PLEASE DO NOT come to the store.

Thanks for your support and understanding during this trying time. We consider the bicycle a valuable asset in helping maintain some normality during this pandemic. We strive to serve our cycling community until which time we are told by officials to close our doors. God Bless.

'It's a victory;' Schaumburg opens bike bridge at Central, Roselle roads An array of local, county and state officials -- as well as a healthy number of area bicyclists -- were on hand Tuesday for Schaumburg's dedication of a $4.6 million bike path bridge at Roselle and Central roads, of which the village paid for 24%.

My daughter, Emma, is getting married this weekend. We will be closing at 2:00 today (Friday), will be closed Sat & Sun (as usual), and will open at noon on Monday.

Our indoor classes start in November. Session 1 (5 weeks) starts Tuesday, Nov. 12. Space is limited, reserve your spot by calling the shop. Put in some work this fall/winter and have your best riding season next spring/summer.
