Meet Charles โChuckโ Mauldin, USAF. 1st Lt. Mauldin was commissioned in Nov. 1973 and spent the next 4 years as an ICBM launch officer for the Minute Man III missle. Chuck was assigned to 742nd and 740th Strategic missle squadron in Minot, ND. He left the service to his country in May 1977.
Chuck had the job most people never even hear about. He was responsible for the launch of missles in the event of war. The stress created from the burden of that decision is crushing. Itโs not unusual for that level of stress to affect someone the rest of their life.
Chuck has been patiently waiting on his flagpole for nearly 2 years and it was an honor to finally get to do that for him.
Thanks Flags USA for the flagpole kit and to my trusty sidekick for being there with me on a long, long day yesterday.
