***For me, it isn’t negative experiences of the past that trigger it, rather, it's the negative experiences of my present and recent past that do. My mind then searches for positive, happier times because it has concluded that there's nothing recent onto which to grab. It is a coping mechanism, a form of escape as opposed to confrontation. Confrontation would prove even more painful because not only would I have to face and acknowledge my current circumstance, but I would have to accept it for what it is. This means judgement of myself and of my decisions that led to it. Nothing can be fixed without first recognizing that it's broken.Then there's the work to repair, which can be scary and daunting. Much energy is already depleted from avoidance. Using more is not an exciting thought, often stifling momentum. The scary part is the unknown territory of moving forward. Do I really know what I am doing? What if I make the same mistakes? Do I really know what those mistakes actually are? That last question is one that I battle with the most. Because, all I really did was love the wrong man. One that I discovered the hard way was a very cunning, malignant, super narcissist. The only other mistake that I made bigger than that is dismissing the red flags because I ignored my intuition on the dangers of him. Forgiving myself for this has proven to be difficult but necessary to heal and elevate my life.

Why Sora? What does it mean?
Well, in Native American Sora means "songbird." I came across it when I was searching for a pet name for a character in my first published fictional novel "Love Verses" under my pen name Hunter Talen.

I fell in love with it. Not only is it beautiful, but I feel it encompasses metaphorically what personal growth is like, at least for myself: taking flight, spreading wings, ascension, soaring, higher view/ big picture, freedom, traveling, chirping/ singing a new tune, and finding my new flock.These words all represent positivity, peace, comradery, and progress; essential elements that drive and encourage introspection, authenticity, healing and growth. When it comes to navigating mood disorders like depression, there's an innate, looming darkness that becomes an added layer to shed and shackles to break. Sora sets the goal sky high, befitting of a journey that begins ocean deep.
