Shannon Sneed
Candidate for Baltimore City Council President. By Authority: Shannon Sneed for Baltimore.
Congratulations to Councilman Zeke Cohen on his victory in the Democratic Primary. I worked with Zeke when I was on the Council and I know he will work hard on behalf of the citizens of Baltimore. I stand willing to assist him in any way I can to move Baltimore forward. To the outgoing Council President Nick Mosby I want to thank you for your service to the community.
This fall I will support the entire Democratic ticket from our historic US Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks down to our city council members.
Being the first person to qualify for public financing in Baltimore's rich political history is something I owe to the more than 640 Baltimoreans who supported our people-powered campaign. We were able to show that a public financed campaign is a powerful counterpoint to the traditional means of raising money that dominate our landscape.
Going forward it is my hope and desire to see more candidates using public financing. We need more candidates who are willing to be funded by Baltimoreans and not outside interests. As I said at my kickoff I followed in the footsteps of my Shero Shirley Chisholm who remains “Unbought and Unbossed”.
I look forward to spending time with my husband and daughter who gave of themselves so I could take this journey. Thank you Baltimore for allowing me into your living room and onto your front porch. I learned so much from you. It is time to return to my roots in community activism of planting trees, organizing community cleanups and tending to my community garden plot. The rain has done the soil well. Back to work.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there including my own!
I have a history of leading on major issues that have a direct impact on Baltimore City residents.
I have a spotless reputation in both my professional and personal life. I am funded by the working men and women of Baltimore and reject business and downtown monied interests. The reason I am like this? I was raised by a strong single black mother who showed me values, loyalty, compassion, and action. Thanks, Mom.

Sneed says she’s the progressive choice for City Council president When Sneed jumped into the race last October, she entered as an underdog in a contest that already pitted an embattled incumbent against a formidably financed council colleague.

With me doing public financing I’m beholden to the residents of Baltimore City, not businesses and developers.
