Time to bang on some pots and pans! Today our “Metallic Life Review” album comes out on Thrill Jockey records. First and foremost we are very grateful to .en.gardner Owen Gardner, Thor Harris, Jason Willett, Obie Feldi and Susan Alcorn (R.I.P.) for contributing sounds and performances, and giving their time and talent to this enterprise. Susan’s death is a loss to American music and we are simply grateful to have had the chance to collaborate. We are very grateful to Ted Mineo for his photography and collage skills, and to Rashad Becker for mastering, and to the whole Thrill Jockey crew for making this record possible. Not to slobber but we are really lucky to have help from talented people and we do not take it for granted. Thank you so much! We love getting to do this and we hope to see you soon as we tour this material for the next month across (what is left of) the United States (thanks to for organizing that part)

It’s a weird and scary time, and a tricky time to think about art or one’s own personal projects- but sharing creative labor keeps us sane, so here goes: Hello fellow inhabitants of the new Iron Age! MATMOS is thrilled to announce a new album composed entirely of metal objects, titled « Metallic Life Review » that will come out on the Thrill Jockey label on vinyl and digital formats this June! You can hear one song, « Changing States » that features Susan Alcorn Lobato (R.I.P.) on pedal steel by heading over to the Matmos / TJ Bandcamp page! *deep breath* Cover art by Ted Mineo! band photo by Obie Feldi! mastered by Rashad Becker! UK, Europe, and US Tour dates and ticket links to come!

Next week! Matmos takes Manhattan! Come on down to the Park Avenue Armory for “Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit” - a new hourlong Matmos performance for video, quadrophonic sound and “action” created as a loving tribute to Yoko Ono’s classic 1964 text “Grapefruit”. Much love to Tavia Nyong’o and the Park Avenue Armory for hosting us! see you soon!

After quite a hardcore sequence of flights from Sydney to Los Angeles to Detroit to Baltimore, we are back home and about to turn the corner swiftly into the fall semester. The jetlag is intense, even psychedelic, and my body is very confused right now, but let me say this. We are hugely grateful to our friends and hosts in Australia who made that trip possible: Angus Andrew, Lawrence English, Andrew Tuttle and all at IMA and Phoenix Central Park. It was a huge gift to get to return after far too long away. Thank you!

ACHTUNG! TONIGHT! BERLIN! Matmos and the ferociously talented Weston Olencki on a bill together at KM28. We rarely play a purely improvised set so this is scary / unique / special so come thru. Would be good to see some friendly faces . . .

We want to thank all our friends and family who came out to see us in San Francisco at the Great American Music Hall- it was eerie and moving and overwhelming to have so many people from our deep history in the same room - Drew’s mother and brother, many of Martin’s best friends from high school and college- and to share the stage with the Dick Slessig Combo (now a family band too)- was a bonus round of joy- so- thanks to everyone who came out to make that happen- and thanks also to David Jude for hosting us in the Castro at his home- we are so lucky to have this kind of support after 32 years as a band and we do not take it for granted.
