Native American Humane Society
Nonprofit organized by tribal members to empower Tribes to build healthier communities through humane, sustainable animal care and control programs.
NAHS is a non-profit organization led by Natives for Natives to assist Tribes in creating their own culturally authentic animal welfare systems. By empowering Tribal leaders and families to develop their own solutions for animal welfare, we can create meaningful, systemic change. Addressing animal welfare goes beyond caring for animals; it’s a pathway to strengthening Tribal Nations, tackling complex issues, and fostering a healthier future for all Native people.

Summer starts NOW!☀️⛱️
We are SO excited to finally introduce our NEW NAHS Summer Merch Collection!
Over the last few months, our team partnered with True Chiefs to dream up every detail of this collection. From the fabric of the tanks to the exact shades of the prints, each piece was thoughtfully designed with comfort, quality, and durability in mind.
Featuring the hottest colors of the season and the softest materials around (Comfort Colors, iykyk 😉), these are about to become your new favorite summer essentials.

Smiles, wagging tails, and 953 bags of dog food distributed!
On June 1–2, the Rez Pets Program hosted a free Dog Food Giveaway on the Allegany and Cattaraugus Territories, providing pet owners with nutritious food for their furry family members.
Together, the community distributed:
🐶 473 bags in Cattaraugus
🐶 480 bags in Allegany
This giveaway was made possible through a generous donation from PetSmart Charities to Native American Humane Society. Seeing these bags of food make their way into the hands of pet owners (and ultimately to the dogs who depend on them) is exactly why partnerships like this matter!
Thank you to the Seneca Nation Community Planning & Development Department, PetSmart Charities, and everyone who helped organize and support this event. Also, thank you to the SNI Newsletter for all of these beautiful photos! We’re grateful to play a small part in helping pets stay healthy and cared for in the communities that love them.
Nyaëh to all who made this giveaway a success! ❤️🐾

There is a kind of care that doesn’t ask to be understood- only felt. In the quiet space between human and animal, something steady forms, a kind of healing that doesn’t need explanation.
This is one of those stories.

Some forms of care don’t need language.❤️
They show up in presence, in stillness, in the quiet decision to stay close.
Luna Pistachio and Eirene Hamilton have spent years visiting schools, elder homes, and communities across the Southwest- offering comfort through companionship when words fall short.
Yinínáyooshǫǫh— gladdens, heals, makes the mind beautiful again.
