Homeowners will see the first reduction this year, followed by even larger reductions in the years ahead.

Let me reiterate, this type of enforcement is not welcome in Baltimore. The presence of ICE has not made our city any safer, and in fact has led to greater fear and anxiety, especially for our immigrant neighbors.

I stand with our immigrant families who have been impacted by detentions. If your loved one has been arrested by ICE, I encourage you to call 888-214-6016. Help is available through MIMA - Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs.

When members of the press don't do basic research and use the arrest of one Black man to drag another through the mud, it seems to me like this is an intentional attack on our community and Black-led nonviolence work in Baltimore and across the country.

To all of our Baltimore City Public Schools High School graduates, this is just the beginning. As you walk into this next chapter, keep dreaming big, keep working hard, and keep proving the naysayers wrong by showing them who Baltimore’s young people really are. 🎓

Please see my statement on the arrest of Safe Streets worker Antoine Burton. We will continue to hold our Safe Streets teams to the highest standards for conduct, and they will continue their lifesaving work to prevent violence and uplift our communities.

Despite historic progress, we continue to lose far too many residents to gun violence here in Baltimore and across the country. These are families that will never again be whole, young people who will never get the chance to grow into their best selves, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, friends and family.

This National Gun Violence Awareness Day we stand together against violence in our communities and recommit ourselves to the work of advancing public safety across our neighborhoods.

As Baltimore continues to make historic progress in reducing violence, we're going to continue to double down on the strategies that are helping to save lives across Baltimore.
