This past Thursday was not only the final Town Council meeting of 2022, but it was also the final meeting for Councilman Aaron Tevebaugh. During the meeting, Council President Robert Pope stated "Thank you for (almost) a decade of service to our community. I appreciate it not only as a fellow council member, but as a resident. As council members I can truly understand that it is quite challenging to find people with their head and heart in the right place, and you certainly are one of those people."

During Aaron's 8 years on the Town of Avon Town Council, he has worked with multiple departments, helping form our leadership team. "This place is better than when you got here. Your support and willingness to allow us to do our jobs is hard to do, and I'm grateful for that. I think you made me better at my job." shared Town Manager Ryan Cannon. Later in the meeting, Chief of Police Sean Stoops added "The leadership training that you (Aaron) brought to not on the Police Department, but it's grown into the rest of the town staff, it has truly changed our culture. It's made our Police Department better, it's made our community better."

Aaron is looking forward to spending more time with his family who have supported him and the time he has dedicated to the community, and exploring new adventures now that he has retired from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department saying " (I'm) so appreciative to be part of this great staff that we have. Thank you everybody for a great run, (I) learned a ton from all of you, and I feel like a completely different person today than the first time I sat in one of these chairs, and that's a tribute to each and everyone here. Thank you."

On behalf of the entire Town of Avon staff, thank you Aaron for your transparency, your continued pursuit of what is right, and your families willingness to sacrifice time… the one thing that we can never obtain more of… for the Town of Avon community and residents. You will be missed, but you will also be remembered as a true leader.

Beginning January 1st, 2023, Aaron Tevebaugh will be replaced on Council by Tim Roberts.

Whelp... here it is. An update about US36 from our friends at Indiana Department of Transportation: West Central.

*** As always, we will provide this disclaimer... US36 is maintained and overseen by INDOT, NOT the Town of Avon. If you have frustrations, concerns, fears, joys, whatever, feel free to reach out to INDOT directly at avongov.org/indot ***

A very long story as short as possible, this weekend will possibly be frustrating. Tomorrow (Thursday) INDOT is going to be milling US36 in the construction area. That won't be too bad, but Friday and Saturday they are planning on painting and marking, which will be significantly more complicated and more difficult to travelers. Yes, they are planning on doing this on one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. No, we didn't encourage them to do that

Here is the slight glimmer of hope that we can share. After they are done with this, barrels will be moved, and the entire US36 SHOULD be opened up on Sunday! There will still be some minor work to be completed early next year, but they can only do so much in cold weather

Town of Avon... hang in there. We feel this struggle and pain too, and know that our Public Works and Leadership teams are doing all they we can do to expedite the process... but don't forget, the Town of Avon has ZERO control of what happens and when
