Commonwealth University Professor Emerita of English, Marjorie Maddox has published 17 collections of poetry, including How Can I Look It Up When I Don’t Know How It’s Spelled?; Seeing Things; Hover Here; Small Earthly Space; Heart Speaks, Is Spoken For; and In the Museum of My Daughter’s Mind (w/daughter Anna Lee Hafer, a 2023 Dragonfly Book Award in fine arts and American Fiction Winner Award in poetry). Maddox also has published a story collection, 4 children’s books, and the anthologies Common Wealth and Keystone Poetry (forthcoming w/Jerry Wemple). Austin and beyond, we're looking forward to the 2026 Austin Book Festival!

Ready, readers? The Texas Book Festival returns to downtown Austin for its 31st annual event on November 14–15, 2026! The Festival is the largest book event in Texas and one of the foremost literary celebrations in the country. Attendees can once again expect an all-star author lineup, programming for all ages in both English and Spanish, book signings, cooking demonstrations, family and teen-focused activities, hundreds of exhibitors, food trucks, a Saturday night Lit Crawl, and more. The event remains free and open to the public. Book submissions for consideration to participate in the Festival will open in early January 2026. The featured author lineup will be unveiled in early fall 2026.
