“I decided to join WW not only because I saw success with my friends but because it felt like the most sustainable way to lose weight. ⁣⁣

The best habit I picked up has been meal planning and prepping. I LOVE the freedom of ZeroPoint foods. I don't love measuring and tracking every single thing I eat so this was a perfect plan for me. I always make sure that I have a variety of different meals that I can easily make throughout the week so there is no reason to get fast food or order pizza, if it wasn't part of the plan. My husband has even gotten on board-- even though he’s not technically on WW, he’s lost weight as well!⁣⁣

My advice? If you are trying to lose weight, don't give up. One off day, week, or even month won't matter in the long run if you just keep going!”⁣⁣

“I joined WW in 2018 with a group of Dominican women who were all trying to lose weight. We started a group chat and #DominicansOnWW took off from there. I immediately joined the Latinas Connect group; many latina members exchange meals and their journey in the group. ⁣

Most of my meals are still very much Dominican dishes, but I make small adjustments to make them work! I’ve learned that I could have rice, potato salads, and pork in smaller portions and seasoned with healthier ingredients. I cut back on the adobo; I also removed corn oil from my meals; I opted for the air fryer instead of deep frying. If I had to cut out my rice and beans, the program wouldn’t work for me! “As I moved along my WW journey, I felt like I was finally living in a way that was healthy and true to who I am.⁣⁣ I started thinking about having a family of my own someday—and the lived experiences I’d be passing on to my kids. Partly for that reason, seeking out community became a big part of reclaiming my heritage. As I got more active on Connect, I started using the hashtag #LatinasOfWW—that’s me saying, “I want to exist with you and be your partner in this experience.” It’s my way of empowering others to be open and proud of who they are, too. I think of it like wearing a medal.⁣⁣

I’m currently implementing a mostly meat-free lifestyle, and my partner and I have loved planning out vegetarian versions of Mexican-style dishes. Instead of beef tacos, we’ll make jackfruit tacos. And lately we’ve been really into tofu enchiladas. I’ve kept a few non-vegetarian favorites in the mix, too, like chicken mole. And I’ll never stop enjoying my grandmother’s traditional rice and beans recipe. It’s been incredible to build a connection with my Mexican heritage through cooking.” ⁣
