I built this home for the Lakeway Parade of Homes, and two moments from that project have never left me.

The night before the parade, I was installing cabinet hardware on the most expensive cabinets I’d ever worked with. My jig loosened, slipped, and I mis-drilled a hole right in the front panel. In the kitchen 😳 the biggest main focal point of the house.

With literially thousands of people set to walk through the next day, this was an embarrasng mistake I didnt want anybody to see. So I stayed up all night carefully repairing it. By sunrise, the mistake was invisible, and the home looked exactly the way it was meant to.

The other memory still makes me laugh. This house had the first high-end Japanese electronic toilet I had ever seen, I remember thinking, “Why doesn’t every house have one of these?”i
