#movementminute !!! #iwokeuplikethis Is this too raw? IG just looks so darn polished sometimes 😒 we know it's not real life. By the same token, you don't have to wait until you're ready to get moving, to start making the changes you know you want. We can let a million things stop us, trying to wait until the moment is just right. Time, money, etc. Make it ugly, make raw, until it's so darn polished like the way water cuts thru rock over 100s of years, that no one can take it away from you. I'm just running my mouth now. But get up and move! You know you wanna. This is the frogger's stretch, plus some spinal extension (don't be afraid to explore). Tips: move your feet around (vary the knee angle) until you find a stretch you like. Your adductors will thank you ❤️

Don't be afraid of the textured grittiness of life. Revel in it! It's what make you, YOU. Get outside and kick your shoes off! And if your feet are currently too sensitive for that, try some minimalist foot-shaped shoes (i.e. @vivobarefoot @earthrunners @altrarunning @lunasandals @vibramff)! The 26 bones of your feet will thank you for the mobility exercise. Graded exposure means respecting the adaptive capacity of the human body. Don't forget the old adage, too much too soon, and work at YOUR level. It also means, don't be a doofus, but instead buy the casual minimalist footwear first (not the running shoes for GOODNESS sake)! But a little bit more and more each week, and you'll be amazed what those little twinkle toes of yours can do!

#movementminute !!! Get up and shake your groove thang. It doesn't take more than a minute to do something good for the body. Remember the bear crawl? Maybe, maybe not? Great for your core and hamstring mobility. Tips: start on your hands and knees, hands directly under the shoulders, knees under the hip joint, spread your fingers wide, spiral the eyes of the elbows forward (external rotation) and come up into the A-Frame shape - like your downward dog. Right hand, then left foot. Take small steps, and make sure the step with the hand is the same length as the step with the foot. Next, have fun with it! Great way to break up the day.

I feel 💪🏽 and I can't thank Dr. Garrick enough! I never knew if the supplements I was taking before were actually doing anything, but after Dr. Garrick ran a full blood panel on me we found out I was deficient in a couple of key areas. I can tell you for a fact that when you're taking the right supplements for YOU, it can make a MASSIVE difference. I have more energy, my recovery has been on point, and my mood is improved. #movementminute !!! Chances are you've been sitting in the same position for far too long today. It only takes mere seconds to do something good for the body. Try this one. Your squat may look different, that's ok. Your twist may look different, that's ok. I did a demo at 2 different heights, it doesn't matter. Squat & twist! Do a few times to each side; add some pauses; wiggle around a little bit of you feel like it! Don't submit to the sedentary! No amount of intense exercise can make up for a full day of sitting on your 🍑 Remember that.

#refurb & #refinish ...they're showing their age, but still feel good and work great! These @lunasandals are around 10 years old and I just put them on their third set of soles. I've taken them in and out of the rotation a few times, and they'd been collecting dust for too long. That's one of the beautiful things about simple footwear. Instead of discarding, a simple refresh will keep me going for a few hundred more miles. Unfortunately, the sole material I had lying around was precut and it doesn't perfectly match, but that's ok.

Does anyone remember what this model of Lunas was called? Or what kind of leather it is? It's awesome stuff. This was one of their high-end sandals at the time, touted for its strength and durability, and marketed as a fast light-weight shoe. ~2.5 mm of leather, ~2 mm of dense @vibram sole, and these are tough as nails. I floated through the rocky trails of south Austin without a problem!

I ripped off the old worn through soles, buffed up the leather all around, gorilla glued the new soles, set underneaths weights and a board to cure overnight, cut off and sanded down the excess glue and rubber, drilled and cut new holes, sprayed with leather cleaner and brushed them, sprayed with leather protector, cut off the scraggly ends of the old laces and melted the tips, and laced them up!

More accurately described as Plantar Fasciopathy recognizing the idea that inflammation isn't usually at play. Have you ever suffered from this annoying problem? As a runner, I know I have! Although, until I've had a chance to evaluate it, I prefer to call it simply "plantar foot pain." The fascia of the posterior chain is continuous with the bottom of the foot, and in my experience, the plantar fascia is rarely the main culprit, but merely where the symptoms are.
.
The largest contributing factor probably lies within the old adage, "too much too soon." The next largest contributing factors are probably a weakened heel cord/posterior chain (including calves and glutes), and limited mobility of the ankle and possibly the hip. Your calves may be short, they may just not be happy with the load you're putting on them.
.
Regardless, the best way to address this is to strengthen them effectively (i.e. full range of motion). Because full ROM can be difficult to attain, focus on the eccentric (lengthening) phase initially: lift both heels, pick up one foot and come down using one foot only - make sure you can pause at the top of your range for a second, then lower yourself slowly - also make sure weight is evenly distributed across the forefoot. Do a lot... with quality, daily.
.
Second, split up the load (the pa pa pounding) by starting out with walk/jog intervals. Walk for a few minutes and/or perform some dynamic mobility drills to warm-up before running for a minute, then walk for a minute. Repeat 3x, then cool-down by walking for a few minutes again. Add one walk/jog interval each session unless you have increased symptoms and do at least 4 sessions a week, and take at least 1 rest day per week.

Remember, rest alone is rarely the solution. So, take action today! For more details reach out, and also keep an eye out for our forthcoming course that will help you transition to a more natural way of walking and running!
