Thanks to the Houston Business Journal for their recent article highlighting the vital work Collaborative members are doing to increase homeownership opportunities for people of color!

New Houston collaborative addresses racial and ethnic homeownership gap with funding from Wells Fargo - Houston Business Journal Funded by the Wells Fargo Foundation, Wealth Opportunities Realized Through Homeownership is a $60 million national effort to address systemic barriers to homeownership for people of color.

We’re excited to announce and introduce the 66 nonprofit grantees that we will be working with through the Texas Foundations Fund (TFF) program over the next year! ☺️🙌

Through the TFF program, TSAHC funds nonprofit organizations across Texas to support high quality programs addressing the critical housing needs of very low-income families and individuals.

To date, TSAHC has completed 12 award cycles of the Texas Foundations Fund. During that time, TSAHC has awarded more than $8 million. With this year's awards, TSAHC has awarded more than $9 million in grant funding.

TSAHC recently received a $30,000 grant from Wells Fargo in support of the Texas Housing Impact Fund, TSAHC’s loan fund for community-based developers. Combined with a previous grant that Wells Fargo generously contributed in 2022, this latest award will be utilized to support a deferred forgivable loan to Cady Lofts, a 100-unit permanent supportive housing community in Central Austin.

Issued through TSAHC’s Affordable Housing Partnership with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), the loan will support the completion of four units specifically for individuals with disabilities, providing them with the opportunity to live in community-integrated housing that maximizes their independence and improves their health outcomes. Wells Fargo’s generous support will fully fund TSAHC’s financing for one of the four units.

We would like to thank Wells Fargo for their additional support in 2023 and their long-standing partnership over the years.

Funding opportunity closing soon! ⏰ Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. has put out a Request for Proposals (RFP) that is intended to increase the capacity of community-based organizations and community anchor institutions in South Texas to provide critical digital resources, services, and support.

The opportunity is centered around training and deploying Digital Connectors — community technology ambassadors who apply a lens of health and wellbeing to bringing needed digital services to communities, including: internet-enabled devices, digital skills training, and public benefit adoption support to those experiencing challenges in accessing and using digital resources.

This RFP and funding opportunity invites responses from both organizations that already provide digital support services and device distribution programs and organizations that provide other services in their communities/are interested in expanding their capacity to provide digital equity support.

Earlier this month, TSAHC and Texas Community Bank participated in a key ceremony to welcome Ervey Gomez, a Laredo teacher, to his new home.

Through our Affordable Communities of Texas Program, TSAHC acquired and renovated the home prior to selling it to Mr. Gomez. The 1,300 square-foot home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and is located about five miles southeast of downtown Laredo. 🏠

TSAHC utilized funding from Texas Community Bank to fund the repairs and keep the sales price affordable.

As a first-time home buyer, Mr. Gomez is looking forward to making the home is his own. Texas Community Bank provided a stipend to help cover his internet expenses for a year. 😊
