Fin – beloved community, we are closing our doors. On behalf of myself, the MBS team, all of our employees, past and present, I want to say thank you for allowing us the privilege and opportunity to create for you all of these years. This chapter, from COVID to the present day, has been an incredibly poignant one. The work has felt like a true collaboration across our tiny team and I will cherish this time, even for all of its hardness and challenges, with every bone in my body. We tried with all of our might and I’m so proud of us.

We will officially close the doors to our brick and mortar this Saturday, April 8th. The last day to purchase with us online will be Sunday, April 9th. We will have a final promotion this week of 40% off all of our inventory, in-store & online with code FAREWELL. All sales will continue to be final (as they have been since 3/27/23).

Miranda Bennett Studio: ethical and sustainable, plant-dyed apparel created within Austin City Limits from 2013 - 2023. Thank you, it’s been an honor ♡

At Miranda Bennett Studio (MBS), we close our monthly all-team meeting with the questions: “what’s in your rearview, what are you looking forward to, and what is giving you life?”. That final question has led to the exchange of countless recipes, books, podcasts, and inspiration. In addition to sharing what's giving us life, this series also affords us the opportunity to shine a light on the incredible team behind the scenes at our studio, highlighting the individuals who bring our collection to life and into your hands.

Our third installment features Abbey , our Dye Studio Manager. At the studio, we love referring to Abbey as 'the Captain' for her no-nonsense approach to problem solving and nearly infallible level of discernment. She embodies the MBS commitment to sustainability by consistently seeking ways to utilize our materials to the fullest and repurposing supplies to a degree that would give MacGyver a run for his money. For this feature, Abbey shared her secrets to the best dining in Austin, how to take a balanced approach to food and so much more. Head to the link in our bio for the interview 🌸

Guess who’s back 🕊️🤍✨ we have just restocked our Shawls in Organic Cotton — plant dyed with botanical pigments including our organic Mexican Mint Marigold grown just outside of Austin, natural Indigo grown in Tennessee and Madder Root, one of the world’s most ancient dyes, with use dating back to 3000 BC ✨🌱🌼🏺 they are the perfect companion to any look — whether worn wrapped around the neck, as a sarong, or a cover up. They are MB’s personal fav for travel — she’ll use one to rest her head on during a plane ride, as a throw in the park (along with a good book) or a poolside wrap. They are light enough to fold up easily when not in use and create the perfect pop of color with any look 🌸

We are so honored share that we are ’s Made in the South 2022 Style Category Winner 🥳 It’s truly a delight to be in the company of so many incredible brands and makers redefining southern culture on the global stage through inclusive design, ethical and sustainable process and investments in manufacturing within our local communities. Read the interview (below) and warmest thanks to for the thoughtful words ♡ —
“I wanted to learn from the pain points I experienced the first time around,” says the designer Miranda Bennett of launching her namesake sustainable clothing brand. A native of Austin, Texas, Bennett has a degree from Parsons School of Design and spent twelve years in the New York fashion world, but her vision for a more eco-friendly, ethical apparel company that minimized waste and environmental impact didn’t truly gel until she discovered plant-based dyes upon her return to her hometown in 2013. “As I started to learn about plant-based dyes, I began sewing again and dying things with my own hands,” she says. “It just suddenly felt like this whole different reason to have a collection.” In the years since, she’s gone a step further by exploring zero-waste plant-based dyes and partnering with a range of businesses, from local Japanese restaurants to sawmills, to cull materials for the process such as avocado pits and pecan shells.
With those dyes as a springboard, Bennett dove deep into the world of slow fashion. She committed to sewing and constructing everything within Austin’s city limits and eschewed seasonal trends in favor of a smaller collection of timeless, well-made silhouettes that last. “It’s all about draping,” she says. “We make pieces that are deceptively simple, but we have several styles you can wear upwards of five different ways.” The designs feel as good as they look thanks to the brand’s exclusive use of natural fibers—organic cotton, silk, and linen. And no matter your taste or shape, there’s most likely a Miranda Bennett style for you. “Our collection is about making every wearer feel their absolute best,” Bennett says. “So how could we leave people out because of size or age?”

At Miranda Bennett Studio (MBS), we close our monthly all-team meeting with the intentionally open ended question: "what's giving you life?”
It has led to the exchange of countless recipes, books, podcasts, and ideas, whether it's fostering pets or learning a new language. It also inspired the premise of a new monthly dispatch. In addition to sharing what's giving life to one of our team members, this series also affords us the opportunity to shine a light on the incredible people behind the scenes at our studio, highlighting the individuals who bring our collection to life and into your hands.

For our second installment, Xochi (pictured here in a Muse Top circa 2015 & still going strong), another amazing flagship associate at our Austin store, shares insights, recommendations, tools for allyship and so much more. Xochi is a visual artist, a board member at Future Front Texas , a member & DJ with Chulita Vinyl Club , who use music and vinyl as a form of resistance against the erasure of culture. We cannot wait for you to read her words, which are always unbelievably insightful. Swipe through for our interview and be sure to say hi to Xochi the next time you visit our Austin Store 🌼
